I assume you are going to purchase resale correct? For SSR and OKW you can save $$$ or get more points..all resale contracts are negotiable, you do not pay asking price or even closing cost sometimes.
1. Buy Resale-don't pay asking price
2. Do not over purchase (i.e. buy more points than you need, you can add on direct from disney later for small point contracts)
3. Do not worry about use year unless you know you will be vacationing the sametime of year for the next 40 years
4. Buy where you want to stay, but if you know you will never reserve at 7 to 11 months in advance than buy cheapest maintenace fee per point and lowest cost (disney on-site resort).
