So, I was debating between a 2 bedroom or 2 studios recently, when I read a thread about putting dining plan on one studio and not the other. That got me thinking.

If there are 5 of us in 1 studio and 4 in the other, what if we do DxDDP for the 5? For 8 nights we would have:
120 meal entitlements (plus apps for TS)
and 80 snack credits.

For DDP for 8 nights for 8 people (one of the above is under 3) we would have
124 meal entitlements (QS & TS)
128 snacks.

Is sharing the meal plan frowned upon? Will I have any issues, or does Disney not question it because they are my credits to spend how I choose?

You might want to ask this question on the Restaurant board. Those folks are experts in maximizing DDP usage.

You can share your credits any way you like.

You can share the dining plan credits with the people in the "non-DxDP" studio. However, only those people registered to the DxDP studio will have MBs that can access the credits. That can get a little difficult if you split up for meals or if someone who is in the non-DxDP room wants to grab a snack.

In addition the dining plans may not be the best value. Listing meals, costs, and plans on a spread sheet can be a real eye opener.

Splitting the deluxe the way you are suggesting could work out extremely well. The biggest problem we have with deluxe over long stays is that it's so much food! And you don't get the best value at breakfast. So splitting with people not on the plan can be great. We have done this and split 4 deluxe credits at meals between 5 people and could have easily gotten away with 3 credits for 5 people at many meals. The app, plus entree, plus dessert makes splitting this way really worthwhile for us. But most of the time we travel as just the 2 of us so it doesn't work as well.

I wouldn't do 5 in a studio, and I would never get the DP, especially if I could get TIW.

You can, sharing has been allowed for some time in most cases but it's been more formally allowed the last 2-3 yrs. Whether it's a value is another matter and depends on your choices. Just run through your reservations and get an idea of the per credit value you'd be getting. Then count up your credits that would give you a value. Ignore snacks and the mugs for planning purposes. You and to get the best value when you have children 3-9 so that may determine the best room to get a plan on. If you do the TS with Dlx (which includes appetizer while reg does not non buffet) and pay OOP for counter service and any snacks you go over, you'll likely come out the most ahead.
