Hello!

I am hoping to book a couple of staterooms for a family trip. One room will be a mix of people that would like to pay their own fares individually. If there are 3 adults and 1 child in the room, how do I split up the cost? Does Disney charge less for children? I noticed on the rates page on the DCL website that children are charged less when they are the 3rd, 4th, person etc., but I don't see this anywhere else.

Basically, I need to split up the total cost of ~$6000 this way:

1) 1 adult and 1 child
2) 1 adult
3) 1 adult

Should it just be an even split? Or will I be "ripping off" the person with the child?

Thanks in advance for your insight! :thumbsup2

when you search the travel booking sites, it should show you the adult and childrens rate (try here: http://www.allseastravel.com) HTH

CORRECTION
actually..if you are booking 2 rooms for 4 of you. the child fare is null. For the first 2 passengers, they are full adult fare, regardless of age, single travelers pay double rate.

My mom, daughter and I shared a cabin and I asked Disney when booking it how much each fare would be so we could divide the price. They told me but also when I received the cruise documents it had the fares listed. Children are cheaper and I think my daughter's fare was $600. This was for the 7-night Western Caribbean/Category 8. I am not sure off hand how much the adult fare was though.

If anyone else was wondering about this, I found this on the DIS site:

"All cruises are priced based on two adults in the stateroom. So, even if you are one adult traveling with a child, the price is the same as if there were two adults in the stateroom. After the two adult price, the third and fourth passenger in the stateroom are charged a lower rate. If the third and fourth passengers are under 13, the rate is anywhere from $229 - $429 for the 3 day cruise, from $329-$529 for the 4 day cruise and from $349 - $749 for the 7 day cruise (including land/sea vacations). The price varies based on season."

I would charge the child "the child's rate" and than divide the balance by 3. While adult #3 is a little cheaper, there is no reason they are #3 (vs. 1 or 2). I think charging 25% of the stateroom for the child is too much, IMHO, but no reason the others shouldn't all share.

If you want a quick way to figure the cost, just go to the DCL site and do a mock booking for multiple rooms...the 1st with 2 adults, the 2nd with 3, you have your cost for everyone and can work the numbers from there. Hope this makes sense
