Cupcakes are so popular now! There is a place called Gigi's cupcakes that has some wonderful flavors of cupcakes. I have tried (and loved:love::love:) the margarita one and the red velvet. They have all kinds of flavors such as champagne, watermelon, coconut cream, key lime, white chocolate and many, many more! Help me make these gourmet cupcakes at home! How do they flavor these? Is it a flavoring, pudding mix or what?:confused3 I would love to be able to make these some how for my DH who is a diabetic by using the Pillsbury Sugar-free Cake Mix. Any ideas are appreciated!

We have a similar gourmet cupcake place. I don't think you are going to get the same or even close results using a cake mix.

Wish I could offer some advice on making them. Our local cupcake shop offers sugar free flavors (at least 1 a day) and gluten free ones a few days a week. Have you asked them if they offer those options? I agree that a cake mix probably won't work.

I'd watch some of the Cupcake Wars episodes. It seems like they use a basic cake recipe and go from there. I've seen them add fresh fruit, jams, etc for flavorings, as well as alcohol, juices, and other additions.

Happy creating!:goodvibes

No advice, but we love Gigi's cupcakes too! The Kentucky Bourbon Pie is by-far our favorite one :)

I would try switching out the water called for in the mix with juice or whatever flavor you want and go from there.
