We have been doing the Disney themed movie nights and for next weekend, we are going to be watching Swiss Family Robinson. I thought it would be really cool if the girls could 'design' their own 'treehouse'. Problem is, I don't know where to start with this and the kids are going to need a lot of guidance. I figure I can start with a few boxes, raid the recycling bin and cut up some old tshirts. Any other suggestions?

Do you have an old sheet they could color, they use it like a fort?

When I worked in a children's theater we made a tree house from refrigerator boxes. We would then use a black marker to make the cardboard have a wood appearance.

For the roof we would use cheap luau skirts from a party supply store.

Sounds like fun, I wonder if my husband would be up for us building this for a themed date night ;)

I'd just use what we did when we were kids: sofa cushions, some chairs, a sheet or blanket, maybe a dining table or something similar. :)

Depending on how big the kids are and what their (and your) tolerance for "shakiness" is, I'd go with a (sturdy) card table, to give them the height off the ground, and then enclose it in sheet-vines hung from the ceiling to give them the "house" feeling
