Hi. I need some ideas for a CD to make for my son (and no, I won't be downloading them illegaly :earboy2: ) He wakes up several times each night and cries until we put him back to bed- this is a result of weening him out of our bed... He goes right back with no problem, but it's very taxing to be awakened so many times, especially when I can't sleep at night as it is... I'm hoping hearing the music will calm him down, maybe even keep him asleep- at the very least I won't feel so guilty if it comes down to letting him cry it out (which we have been trying since he was an infant and seems to take forever to kick in, and it breaks my heart every time!) I don't really want to use baby songs, and I can only think of a few right now, mainly ones that I used to sing to him. Here is what I have so far- (They are all Beatles songs, that's all I could think of...) I Will, Good Night, and Golden Slumbers. I have to look through my CD's tomorrow, I know there's more out there that I am just too tired to think of. Can't wait to hear your suggestions!

My first son had VERY horrid colic. That kid was up screaming from about 10pm til 4am nightly. There were two CD's that seemed to calm him down alot.I would have died without them! The Cranberries-Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't We and Mazzy Star-So Tonight That I Might See.I tried classical and he hated it.I tried lullaby CD's and he hated it.I think it was just something about these two women's voices that calmed him.Good Luck ^_^

Have you tried a fan in his room. Maybe the white noise can help. I know it helped the kids fall asleep faster with a fan running in their room.

Thanks for the suggestions- I'm adding them to my list. As far as the fan goes, we used the radio for white noise when he was a baby, and it helped a lot, but right now I think his problem is waking up and not wanting to be alone- he'd sleep through a tornado if we were with him! Thanks again, keep em comin!

I've always used CD's with both of my son's since they first started sleeping in their own rooms. My younger son is 5 months and my sister bought the Celine Dion/Anne Geddes CD "Miracle" for me when he was born. I really love a lot of the songs on there, my favorite is Beautiful Boy. It was originally sung by John Lennon, but I really like her version. I also really like "If I could". You should check it out, it's a very good CD.

The Beatles used to have a collection just for kids. It was wonderful but we no longer have it and I can not remember the name. We also used clasical music in a rendition for children that was good.
However let me tell you my story...

DS was premature and spent 3 months in ICU. A good friend gave us this wonderful lullaby tape. We put it in his bed and he calmed right down. The nurses played it 24/7. It was wonderful. FAst Forward 3mo and he comes home. ICU staff says to try to keep everything the same so we have the same blanket, sheep skin AND tape. Great for 21 minutes. Then the tape shuts off and he wakes up screaming. In the ICU the nurses were always awake and turned it over before it cut off and he was never without it. For a week, I woke up every 21 minutes to turn the thing over!!! After that we started to wean him off. He still loved it and we tried to find another before that one wore completly out, which it did, but we were unable to and he got over it!!!!

WE also used white noise. Don;t forget that for some kids music stimulates them and wakes them up. Just try and see what works.
Also check out the current thread on getting kids to sleep in thier own beds.

Good Luck!!!!!
