WE did this in 05 for dinner and had a terrible experience. It wasn't completely related to the dinner, but nonetheless, I have some unpleasant memories from here. In a nutshell, my 13 mos old dd began what ended up being a three day bout of diarrhea the night we were here, which then transferred to me one night later. Plus, I don't remember the food being very good. The clams were decent, and we all like clams, but I remember thinking that the other food wasn't so hot. So since it's four years later, and we really do love seafood and clams, should I try again?? Recent reviews and opinoins would be super!! Thanks.

We just went for the first time in June and it was great!! It is the place where my kids ate the most food and the one dinner that my DH insists that we do again next year.

We never went there and I wanted to try b/c I have read a couple of good reviews but do read a bad review. My problem is not the bad review but I just have too many other places that my son, husband and I want to eat so we will have to try it another time. I'm not sure if you daughter would want to give it a try since she had a bad experience...I know if it was me and I got sick last time...I would have a hard time giving it another try b/c Disney has so many other restaurants to go to. Good luck in your decision making. Did you ask your family....see what they want to do.

We went in 2003 and my son went in 2005. The food was really good both times. Since we went there the fist night last time we plan on kicking off our September trip there again this year.

This is a family favorite of ours. We go most trips and we're big seafood fans like yourself. Have a great trip!

We have been to CMClambake 6 times over the last 3 years and we have never had a bad meal, we love it there and cannot wait to get back in Oct.

I was a bit leary also, having read mixed reviews, but I added it to our ADR list, our family tried it just last May and loved it! We are planning on eating there again next vacay!

We were at Disney for 4 nights and we ate there our first night. The family loved it so much they made me cancel Whispering Canyon and eat there again on the 3 night!!

I have kona cafe booked for BF that morning. Figured we'd go there and eat then catch a bus to HS. I also have 50s PT scheduled for dinner. We''ve eaten here twice before and Im not sure I really want to do it again but i couldnt think of any other place for us to eat while we're there. Im an open to suggestions on changing these two places. Im not so sure I want to take the time to eat at a TS in HS since we're only there one day. I saw studio catering company had a good chicken rice and beans dish (it sounds good anyway) and starring rolls gets good reviews, but do they have meal items or just sweets? Give me some ideas. I was thinking we could take a boat to yacht club and eat at Capts grille, but i think that would take forever...and it would definitely cut into our time at HS.
Ps...Im one of the seemingly few people who really likes HS so I really want to try to get a full day here if I can. I also want to be present for the lighting of Osbourne, so I need to plan around that. sorry so long...let the suggestions flow!!

I personally love 50's Prime Time Cafe, the food is good and the prices are reasonable if your not on the dining plan and paying OOP. That would be my choice to keep 50's as they have great fried chicken and meatloaf and I hear the pot roast is also awesome.

we love kona cafe breakfast!! i think starring rolls is only open in the morning and for lunch. mama melrose is very good. it is near the muppets. and you can get to osborne lights quickly. what about brown derby?:yay:

good question - I think the bus service from Poly is hit or miss to the parks (you hit it just right and its no problem, you miss a bus, and you can wait )

If you are looking for a break Kona gets great reviews - if you want their Tonga Toast, go downstairs to their CS and you can order Tonga Toast there!

At DHS for a CS meal - I prefer Backlot Express - its near the exit of Indiana Jones as you are walking towards Star Tours its on your left - but again, its not always opened, and it does have long lines when Indy lets out - but to hit it right its golden!! my favorite CS!

its so hard to pick an adr for TS - there are so many places - so little time!! Im not fond of the food at PrimeTime - and I've only eaten at HS for a Fantasmic pkg so I've only eaten H&V (dont recommend at all!) and Mama Melrose (very long waits, mediocore service just ok food) So I understand you wanting to get other ideas and reviews!! But to stay for Osborne Lights - I'd either do MM again, or try Sci Fi (not sure the food is that good there either - but its a quirky do once place)

I would probably want to go to Boardwalk and eat anywhere there over any place at DHS! but that takes time out of touring too!

We also LOVE DHS and want to spend as much time there as possible.
Last February we tried Sci-Fi for the first time, having read all the negative reviews and wanting to try it anyway because I thought the theming would be fun if not the food. Surprisingly enough, one of the best meals all trip! We loved it! We stuck with burgers, fries and shakes (Chili for Mom and pizza for the girls though) and everybody truly enjoyed their food and the theming!
Give it a shot if you haven't already!
This time, just to try something different we are going to 50's Prime Time because I think my mom would love it. Being a '51 vintage!

I understand your dilemma - DHS is the worst for sit down meals. If you haven't tried Sci-Fi Cafe I would give it a try. Their burgers are okay and the onion rings and shakes are very good. Brown Derby is ok too but I think it's a bit pricey but DH loves the Cobb Salad so we usually go there or 50's Prime Time (which IMHO has the best tasting food).

Our DHS day, we snacked inside the park and had our TS a boat ride away at CapeMay for dinner: SOOO glad we did!!!!

Even with a shellfish allergy, there was plenty yummy stuff to eat. It was very relaxing as well.

We've eaten at Cape May but it was way back in 05. At the time, I wasn't real impressed. I am willing to try it again if it has improved, so Im wondering what you all have thought about it if you have tried it recently. Im not sold on Capts Grille just yet. A lot of mixed reviews from what Ive read, but I definitely haven't had a lot of feedback on this one. I know yachtsmans is better, but Im looking for one ts credit places. thanks...

Oh come on guys. NO responses?? Ive never posted a question on the boards and got zero response! Help me out!

We like Cape May and have a reservation for this year. Good food, nice atmosphere.
You may get comments from folks who live 1.5 miles from the ocean saying "We think we get better seafood at home." :rolleyes1 Since that's not our situation, we very much enjoy Cape May.
(About Captain's Grill--given the choice between the two we'd pick Cape May. We rarely select a buffet, but we really like this one.)
