my friend maddie was at my house and she prank called my crush/guy friend at like 11pm and heres the convo:

his mom: hello?
maddie: is mitch there?
mom: (laughs) yah. hang on i'll go get him
maddie: oh ok.
(we laugh)
mom: can i ask whos calling
me (in background): uhmmmm....say jessica, say jessica!
maddie: this is jessica...
mom: oh ok hang on sweetie
maddie: ok
(then we talk for awhile)
mom: he seems to be asleep...can he call you tomorrow?
maddie: yah sure...
(we hang up and almost DIE laughing!!!

Do you have like a theme in your book? Like all characters are named from a famous play or something? Sometimes that works..

Or like think of a personality trait for your character like umm "Shy" and translate it into a different language or whatever. For instance the french word "Timide" translated into Latin is "vercundus" (according to the internet!) and then work on the name from there. Many authors use these kind of similar ways to make names ironic or meaningful etc. Also it helps inspire.

I do that whenever I write short stories.

It'd be easier to pick a name for the guy if we knew the last name, to see how they'd sound together.

Oh sorry!
The guy's last name is Watson.

I'm about 3 - 4 chapters into it, but they're like 11 pages long.
