Help me-ideas to get $ for Disney trip

I sold my gold last summer. We have found (there is a really long thread about it on the budget board) theat US Godlbuyers gives the best price. You send it in and within days they send you a check. I had not much and still got a couple hundred dollars I beleive.

Use coupons from the sunday paper. Get everyone you know to save them for you. Then when something goes on sale that you have a coupon for....buy a months supply but ONLY for items that you use.

Take the money you save and put it in your Disney account.

Call your cable company and tell them the bill is too high. Sometimes they will find a way to discount it or remove some service. Put that money in a savings account.

Find a consignment store in your area and bring them items you don't use.

Get a "second job" I mean find something you enjoy doing and try to make money doing it. Can you do some babysitting? Are you a great cook....some people will pay for casseroles. Get creative.

ebay anything of value you don't use.

If you eat out then get an entertainment book and only go to places in the book or that are on restaurant.com put that money into your Disney account.

Be creative and you might be shocked at how much money you can "find" in your budget.

A year before our trip we get a small box and write the next 52 Thursday's dates on a grid on the side. Every Thursday we stick $20 in the box and cross off that week's date. A year later, we have over $1000 for our trip!

This may be take a little time in doing but all and I mean all of our spare change is collected by all 4 members of our family and used to pay for all or part of our DDP- we are going January 2011 and we counted up the other night and had $250.00, now that is really not alot, however, it helps. I live in NY and there are banks that have the change machine's that turn it into cash for free even if you don't have an account. Every penny helps. Good luch making money and have a good trip.

We recently funded our trip to The Great Wolf Lodge with the profits from a consignment sale. We had a few "big ticket" items like a stroller but mostly it was unused/outgrown toys. The kids were more willing to help knowing the profits were going to finance a trip. It turned out to be very profitable and a great way to clear out some clutter.

subbing! Great ideas! I too am saving for 2011

We have a Disney Jar for change, as many people do. The kids are sticklers with it. If a bill comes to $1.02, they say "mom, give them $2." We have a silver jar and a penny jar. I just wrapped all our siler last week since the jar was overflowing and it was just short of $300. The pennies are for the kids, if they want to wrap them the money is theirs.
Another thing I do is whenever we get money back from flexspending, we bank it. The money is already spent so we just put it aside. This year with DD10 getting braces on and DH having surgery, in the first 3 months of the year that is already over $1000. Also, I never worked till this school year so my income is extra. It isn't much but it goes towards our trip not into our regular account.

I started doing paid to click sites and rewards sites online. I have cashed in $850.00 worth of Disney gift cards and $300 worth of Shell gas cards so far in about 7 months. It has really worked well for me.

Great job!:cheer2: If you don't mind me asking, which sites do you use and which site do you use that gives Shell gas cards? Thanks!:goodvibes

It's not a ton of money, but I usually make anywhere from $50-150 a month between online surveys and local focus groups. You can easily do a google search for focus groups in your area. Around here there's a company called Fieldwork and I know they have offices in other states. There are lots of market research firms out there that pay pretty well for an hour or two of your time to go in for a focus group and lots of online survey companies that pay a little for quick surveys or more for online focus groups. The thing to watch out for with the online companies is making sure you don't pay a dime. If they ask YOU for any money, it's not legit and you absolutely don't have to pay for a list of survey sites - the info is all out there for free online.

that is just awesome!
Will you please PM me the sites that you use?

thanks a bunch!

This is a great thread! We are going in May and like others we are saving spare change, recycling cans and the kids saved their birthday money. I'm going to sub to this thread because I've already told DH that we where going to make plans to go back in 2012. It would be great to start right in saving after this trip and then it would be paid for by the time the next trip rolled around. :thumbsup2

mypoints offers shell and BP gas cards - that is what we are saving up for. :)

Love this idea!!!:thumbsup2

Don't forget to check your state's unclaimed funds for you and your DH, in every state and under every name under which you have lived.

You can get really creative & find many ways here to earn money or collect on what you own. THere was a thread recently w/lots of good ideas. I love threads like this though because you never know when a new idea will pop up!
Don't discount all those little things. If you add them up on paper, they start collecting into a nice sized sum.

Here's what I'm doing to earn funds for our next trip -

-med co-pay reimbursements
-pre-tax medical - we pay out of pocket then save the receipts for a larger lump sum
-selling the kids old bikes & plastic pool
-holiday & birthday money
-selling our old cell phones - trying this
-selling old CDs and movies
-sell old Leappad games, Gameboy stuff, kid clothes
-sell unopened gift items or gift stash stuff
-selling home decorating stuff
-mystery shopping
-$10 a week into an ing acct where I won't see it
-any rebates we might earn

I'm also trying to kick my diet coke habit so I can funnel $3 more a week into our fund. I used conservative estimates but could manage to get a good chunk of our trip paid if I can follow through on all of this.
