Help me!! I cant wrap my head around this

You know, we've done days were we didn't ride but maybe 1 ride....and that was with a FP. LOL Seriously, since we got our AP's we don't feel like we must do it all, we take it easy and have fun, I much prefer it this way than the gung-ho charge the park method we used our first 2 trips. :)

(never even been to the island for that matter).

I went to DL twice as a kid, 9 years ago with my hubby and this past March with my family. Sadly, I have never been to Tom Sawyers Island (of course now it is pirates, right?). It seems that every time I have gone, we just forget about it... or remember when we are tuckered out and then don't go. At any rate, I have never been. On my next trip though... I WILL visit the island:)

I call it "Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island". I think that's what they were calling it at first, but now it's just PL. But I refuse. PLOTSI it is for me!!!!!!:upsidedow

ME TOO!!!!!! Tom Sawyer Island was my favorite place in DL as a kid. My cousin and I could spend hours there. When we were 11 or so, we even got to stay and play there by ourselves! Meeting up with the family at a set time later. Can you imagine?????:scared1:

So naturally I introduced my kids to it early on in life!

And meeting Captain Jack Sparrow? Well, be still my heart...:cool2:

Well, I have never seen a parade and I have never been to the island. I am not big into the shows. But, I have ridden every single ride in the DL. I have yet to go to CA.

I have probably been to DL over the years 75 plus times.

I have never seen a fireworks display either!

I like to ride the rides again and again while everyone is off watching all that stuff.

Toon Town annoys the heck out of me and I never go there. I did take my kids the last time and they liked it. I just don't feell the disney spirit while in that land.

I am a hardcore DL fan, but my family never watches fantasmic, although i do like to ride Splash , then BTMRR during the show. Can skip toontown unless we need pictures with Mickey, and I have never had a dole whip.In fact, we rarely eat anything in DL, excpet breakfast or lunch at River belle terrace.

Now fireworks and parade are must do.

Different strokes.......

My SIL and I frequently have this conversation:

SIL : I don't understand how you could even WANT to spend 8 days in Disneyland. I do everything in two days and then I'm bored.

Me: No way you're doing everything.

SIL: I am.

Me: Did you see Aladdin?

Her: No.

Me: Did you see Crush?

Her: No.

Me: Did you even enter Fantasyland?

Her: NO.

Me: Then you pretty much rode Splash, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion over and over. The "rides" aren't the only things to do there.

Her: They're the only FUN things to do there.

It all goes downhill from there, really.

We don't travel together well, or often.

Well...

HusbandMan tolerates ONE trip on the Jungle Cruise per trip while I think "back side of water" is the funniest thing ever.

I think a Dole Whip is bad pineapple soft serve, so why bother and I'm STILL in Purgatory over making HusbandMan sit through "Aladdin: The Musical Craptacular" as he calls it- four years later. We think the service and food at Blue Bayou are mediocre and not worth it. You know how some forlk here feel about all three of these things.

I really enjoyed Golden Dreams which some folks apparently use as naptime. :rotfl:

You will have to kill me before I get on California Screamin'- HusbandMan goes alone several times a trip.

Everyone's priorities and tastes are different. I am sure on her next trip your friend will find new things to fall in love with. Some of them may be the same as yours. :lovestruc

:rotfl2: I LOVE the Jungle Cruise. I've been going to WDW since I was 3 (DL was recently added) and so I've loved it almost my entire life. When my sister was about 3 (she's 8 now...I'm 28) we brought her on it and she "Got" her first joke. "What's the difference between broccoli and boogers?" "Kids don't eat broccoli"!! She about passed out from laughing so hard!

Oh - and I NEVER get the Dole whip with the pineapple soft serve. Ick. I get the float...pineapple juice and Vanilla soft serve. It melts a bit and turns into this creamy wonderment. To me anyways. Lol

Well, at least she loved the park so there is still hope for her to develop a full blown appreciation for everything in her future trips!

We will be heading to DL for our 8th annual trip this fall. On our first few trips rides were the priority. After a couple trips and knowing that we would be coming back I began to develop a deeper appreciation for everything at DL. Now it is my mission to make sure I do everything possible at least once on our trips. Even with a 2 week trip, I can still come home sometimes feeling like I missed something! That's just how much I love DL!

Still, if I only had a few days in the park I would bypass things like fireworks, Fantasmic and Aladdin just because they are so crowded, time consuming and not my absolute favorite activities to do. I do thank heavens that we DO have plenty of time to take it all in and at a leisurely pace!

I think rides are still our favorite thing to do and we will go on them over and over and over again and still never get bored. With that said, I can understand how it is possible to love only the rides and not care about all the little extras that some of us seem to find essential to make our trips complete. It should be interesting for you to wait and see if she still feels the same after a few more trips!

I am happy you feel the same way I do. I always try to get in as much as I possibly can out of the trip. I dont go often enough to want to just "miss" something completely. I like to take it all in and absorb it. I just think that with all the cool effect and things to see in other areas of the park would make you want to jump up and down to anxiously see everything else. Especially if you have almost a full week there.
