Help me!! I cant wrap my head around this

I am having the hardest time wrapping my head around this. Maybe you can help me....

My best bud in the world just came home from a week at Disneyland with her boyfriend. She had a 6 day hopper and a day at universal. This was her very first time EVER going to Disneyland and she asked me questions till I was blue in the face just to get her so excited. Her boyfriend has been several times and wanted to give her the ultimate experience. Well she came home the other day and she was like "Disneyland is the best place in the world, I wish I had more time there bla bla bla"... Then I started asking questions excitedly only getting more confused. Tell me what you think....

Me: What ride did you like the best?
Her: Indiana Jones by far
Me: Fav area of the park?
Her: New Orleans definately
Me: Did you take the train ride around the park?
Her: No just partially
Me: Did you try a pineapple Dole Whip?
Her: Whats that?
Me: Did you go into Toontown?
Her: Where is that?
Me: What was your favorite show?
Her: I didnt see any
Me: What do you mean you didnt see any? You didnt catch Fantasmic?
Her: No we just saw a glimsps as we were in the haunted mansion lineup
Me: Fireworks:
Her: No
Me: Aladdin Musical?
Her: No
Me: Parade of Dreams?
Her: No
Me: Electrical parade?
Her: No
Me: Drawn to the Magic
Her: No
Me: Pirates on the Island & Jack Sparrows fight?
Her: No but I saw them from afar
Me: Were you even at Disneyland? Did you see any characters?
Her: haha yes a couple but all we really did was go on rides.
Me: How about the Tiki Room?
Her: No no didnt wanna see that
Me: Jungle Cruise?
Her: Nope skipped that one, heard it wasnt fancy.
Me: Did you use your early entry?
Her: Got to the park a late. So we couldnt use it.
Me: Well would you ever go back to the park again?
Her: Definately I loved it there. So much I missed apparently.
Me: Well start saving cause give it a day or so and the withdrawl will hit you and you will want to go back as soon as possible.

I dont want to complain and I am not, I am just ultimately confused. I understand that somethings will be missed but how do you squeel about going to Disneyland because your the biggest kid in the world and want to take in everything and then not even take in ONE show, parade included or see all the lands when you have a 6 day hopper? I cant wrap my head around this. I dont know what she really got out of the trip. Yes Disneyland has awesome rides, but its not all there is to see.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Everyone enjoys different things. I have been to DL countless times, 5 days at a time and I have never seen Aladdin (either of them), crush, the pirates on the island (never even been to the island for that matter).

my sister went for one day last week with my 23 year old neice. They got there late rode what they wanted once then left I can go for 3 days and not want to go! I am thinking the 4 days planned next trip are not enough
I just don't get it.

Whenever I hear someone hasn't been to Disneyland I make sure they take me with them so they don't miss anything I guess if people don't really know their way around the parks then they miss out on a lot. You better go with your friend next time!

I am so grateful that 45% of DLR visitors (a guess) are locals who can't or won't get there early & 45% are folks similar to those mentioned above & like to sleep in and "piddle around".

It leaves the empty park for the 10% rest of us. Early morning at DLR is the happiest time at the happiest place on earth.

I'm also glad that i found the Dis.

Well...

HusbandMan tolerates ONE trip on the Jungle Cruise per trip while I think "back side of water" is the funniest thing ever.

I think a Dole Whip is bad pineapple soft serve, so why bother and I'm STILL in Purgatory over making HusbandMan sit through "Aladdin: The Musical Craptacular" as he calls it- four years later. We think the service and food at Blue Bayou are mediocre and not worth it. You know how some forlk here feel about all three of these things.

I really enjoyed Golden Dreams which some folks apparently use as naptime.

You will have to kill me before I get on California Screamin'- HusbandMan goes alone several times a trip.


Everyone's priorities and tastes are different. I am sure on her next trip your friend will find new things to fall in love with. Some of them may be the same as yours.

I might have to check this place out after a big lunch at the "Trat". I bet I've taken 3 naps at COP....nice & cool, dark & a snoozer of a ride. (yeah...I know it was Walt's & he loved it....but to me it's a snoozerama).

How long is the Golden Dreams performance? Is it dark? Is it A/C'd? Does it go "slowly" around??

I don't want to take this OT either, but a few years ago I went to Disneyland with 7 other people and we went to the Tiki room on a hot afternoon and all of us fell asleep, after the show I CM woke us up and asked us to leave

I can see Golden Dreams as being a more comfortable place to nap.

Golden Dreams doesn't move, it's just a huge theater. The movie is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg so if you can sleep them more power to you! LOL I couldn't do it. Yes, it got a/c and it is pretty dark, never crowded so I'm sure you could catch a wink or two if needed.

OP, my BFF was like that, she and a group of "other" friends went to DL without me, she had fun but nothing major. She went again with me, my DBF and her DBF in January of this year, she and her DBF ended up upgrading to AP's because they had to much with us. She said "I should have known it would be fun with you, apparently I was with the wrong people last trip" LOL I happily welcomed to her to the Dark Side, with pins! LOL She's got a gluten allergy so no cookies for her. You should go with her, she'd have tons of fun then!

Sounds like my aunt's fiancee and my roommate (except that my roommate does like Fantasmic!). I forced my roommate to watch the Fireworks when I went with her (which she would always leave during in order to avoid the crowds at the tram). I prefer to go with my aunt because she gets that there's so much more to DL than just Space Mountain and the Matterhorn.

One of the reasons I love Disney is the fact that I haven't seen it all. I've been to both WDW and DL and with each trip there is always something new to add to the old favorites.

It's always a great time and if there's something on my list I didn't get to do...well, there's always next year

We went last year with DH's best friend and his daughter (7 years old). After being there one day, she actually said "Do we have to go back to DL today?" WHAT?!?!??!?! She wanted to hang out in the room and watch movies. Ummm OK ... I'll be at DL

We actually had a pretty good time on our trip. She is a very sweet and intelligent 7 year old, but I was shocked at that question. She wanted to know as we were leaving and she was looking at the map why we didn't ride Splash and a couple of other rides. I explained to her what she missed.

There's a lot of stuff to see at DL, even if you never ride a single ride. I say do what ever makes you happy I am sure the next time your friend goes, she'll see/do some of the other stuff too

we go about every 2 years so theres always new rides and things to see. but thanks to this board this trip will be off the chart. i will have several priority seatings versus the 1 we usally have, will have a snack list and food list by land. and well i'll be in the 10% catergory who comes early takes a nap mid day closes the park and has a plan in place.

I guess I can admit that I thought Haunted Mansion was a new ride and had no clue you could go onto Tom Sawyers Island.

Now, I'll also admit the ONE time I have been to DL, I was almost 13 (only slightly older than that now ) and I went with my Grandparents. Don't get me wrong, I had a GREAT time and we went on a lot of rides, well, Grandma watched!!

I fondly remember eating dinner the Polynesian...but don't think I had any snacks...who knew there were so many treasures to be eaten!! OH! and DCA was just a parking lot!

Thanks mostly to this board, we are hitting EVERY ride and then we've got some snackin' to do!!

That used to be my husband. All about the rides. As he's "matured" he's in to all the parades and shows now. Which is funny to me. I'm the one that actually introduced him to rides like Peter Pan even. He would only do the harder rides as a kid because of his older siblings. He so missed out!

Some people think shows and parades are boring and would rather use that time to go on rides. I can understand that. I myself like most if not all there is in the parks although I can't say I will spend too much time waiting for a parade or fireworks show, I'd rather hit a mountain!

It just goes to show that the parks have many different types of attractions to offer.

My first time ever to go to any disney park was at WDW. I was 40 years old. Taking my Dd to disney. Can you imagine I thought Country Bears was boring!! That is till Sally descended and sang her song! then I got into the show! Now Country Bears is one of my absolute favorite!
