Help me help my friends with Dining!

Just found out friends are going Oct. 26-Nov.1 for her 60th B-Day.
They have never been I have given them my advice so far but need some info on crowds during this time and how hard is it gonna be to get ressies for them. They kind of want to play it loose if possible and see it as they go.
They are not sure how much they want to commit ahead of time to reservations. During this time of year think they can get day of ressies for some of the nicer places in epcot such at canada or Le Chef? O'Hana's? You know the kind of places I'm thinking about. What's their chances?

It may be difficult to get into some of the better TS restaurants without the ADR. My only suggestions would be for them to try an off time (earlier/later than the usual lunch/dinner times) for trying to get a table as a walk-in or call from the hotel in the morning before they head to the park to see if they can get a ressie.
We're going in Dec and only wanted to make 1 ADR's and when I called last week, many places were already booked, so I had to call several days till something opened up. I don't leave for another 65 days, so you don't expect it to be that booked up.

The best advice is to call dining and make reservations for the "can't miss" places. They can always show up early or call to cancel/rebook if they have a cell phone. I'd rather have to make a quick call than risk eating CS all week.

Tell them to be really careful in MK since MNSSHP will be going on- ADRs tend to fill up quickly there! Hope they have a great time, and so nice of you for helping them out!

we decided to free wheel it last year and found that there were long lines which we waited in (sometimes 1 to 1 1/2 hours) without waiting the only thing available was counter service. i am sure there was something out there but not the places we really wanted. i recommend reservations.

cinderella's royal table at mk is so very special, but i don't know anyone who has been able to get in without res. thats where we will be dinning just before the halloween party on the 31st.
