HELP US!

DH's grandparents FINALLY left a message saying they are ok. Without phone (they were using a neighbor's) but had power. They live just to the south of Ocala, and we were concerned for their safety.
Anyways, here is my problem!:
DH's grandparents said that they have doubts about us coming down and staying with them (for two days before our offsite stay).
1.We have no way of reaching them to ask why.
2. DH tried to get us into our hotel earlier...no rooms available.
3. I checked out Port Orleans and asked DH what he thought for spending about $230 for two nights before our offsite stay. He was quite apprehensive, but we just toured the site with the virtual tour and he liked the themeing.
Is it worth it?
Or should we just keep staying offsite for 2 nights at a cheap motel/hotel? Won't it spoil us?

Please help us. We need to decide NOW!

If you are talking about POR, you will be spoiled. It is a beautiful property and definitely worth the money. We start our package Saturday but wanted to get there Friday night so we wouldn't miss 1/2 day traveling in case we are hunkered down for Ivan during our stay. We were going to stay offsite cheap but decided to go with POR even though we won't arrive until after midnight.
You will love it.

Don't stress. I've stayed at the PO many times. Three times at the Riverside, and twice at the French Quarter. If fact, I'm staying at the French Quarter this time. The French Quarter is quieter, and slightly smaller. The Riverside is larger, and more spread out. Both are well themed, and have pretty good food courts. If you stay there, at either side, you will do well. Will you be spoiled for a non-Disney resort--maybe. Good luck anyway.

My MIL lves in S Ocala and she has no phone or electricity. I know Ocala received a lot of damaging winds and heavy rains. MIL had a tree fall on her home even.
Id say your grandparents are concerned about you coming into the mess around Ocala.

We FINALLY were able to talk to them, and they are fine. All this concern was more with DH and my scheduling conflicts. They didn't think we would be spending enough time with them! LOL. Oh well, at least they are fine! So now we are going to stay Sunday and Sunday night with them, and go to WDW, and THEN go spend time with them again before we head home.
I am sorry to hear about your MIL. It is rough going through a tree falling on your house (my parents went through that last year with Isabel). I wish her the best as she cleans up.

So now we are planning on staying one night at POR. Yeah us!!
