I am wanting to plan a trip for my daughter's high school graduation. I am struggling to find some way to fly economically. I have 100,000 Southwest points but of course they don't fly to Honolulu. Any help would be much appreciated. The dates are a little flexible but May 25th-May 31st is what we are looking at. Thanks I don't have a lot of flying experience, but I thought someone on this board might have some ideas for me.

Would it help if you flew SW to somewhere in CA and then flew whatever other airline to HI? Flights there definately aren't cheap.

Are you looking to leave between the 25th and 31st or that is the whole time you can be gone? Keep in mind you'll really lose the full day getting there from this side of the country and then the time change will throw you for a loop the first day or so. (We flew from Maine and were up and ready to go at 5am. On the plus side, Waikiki Beach is wide open that early in the morning. :thumbsup2)

You can use those points to get a free flight using the Rapid Rewards "And More" feature.

Go to https://www.southwest.com/rapidrewards/redeem-more-rewards

Sign into your Rapid Rewards account and then click on EXPLORE REWARDS.

Click on INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS. (Yes, I know that Hawaii is in the USA. Apparently SWA RRs doesn't)

Enter your airport and HNL for Honolulu. Enter your dates and do a search for one passenger. Two passengers are going to take close to 200,000 pts., so you won't get two free flights. But you might get one free roundtrip flight if your dates line up right.

We live in Alabama and were just pricing flights to Hawaii. I'm not sure which part of the state you live in, but the flights were a lot cheaper out of Nashville than Birmingham. We were still looking at about $900 per person.

You should also monitor beatofhawaii.com They post travel deals to Hawaii.

I have been monitoring flight prices to Honolulu (from Chicago) for 6 months now for a June flight. Prices for my trip are currently $971. They have been going up for the past 2 weeks. I should have pulled the trigger at $947.

Las Vegas usually has pretty low prices to Hawaii -- check Hawaiian as well as any others.

You should be able to fly SWA in LV pretty easily.

I agree with the PPs-- you can book a flight to somewhere on the west coast using your SW points, and then buy the flights to Hawaii. You can book a flight from Birmingham to LAX on May 25th for 10,500 points (that's a one way EARLY morning flight). Then, you can buy a round trip ticket for around $400 pp to Hawaii (that's on American right now-- and it looks like they don't have too many seats left at this price). Then, book another points flight from LAX back to Birmingham. We went to Hawaii in October  --My DH had a conference there. I was lucky enough to stumble upon an 24 hour fare sale, so I got us flights for $500 pp from Houston. Good deals are out there, but it's getting kind of late in the game for May travel-- I think the SW points plus paying for a fare from the west coast is really your best option. --Katie
