Help me find a hotel good for a little romance while kids are with us?

We're going to Disneyland for my DH's birthday the 27th-29th, and I would like to find a room that allows for a little romance, while we still have the two kids with us (4 and 1)
HOJO, and Carousel are out as they're already booked. I checked desert inn, but honestly am not inlove with the rooms from the website. Maybe they're better in person?
Price is key though. I don't want to go over $200 a night including any taxes etc. Less would be AWESOME, but if its super nice, I would be willing to pay.
Thoughts?

What about the Embassy Suites in Garden Grove? You'd have a true suite with two separate rooms. And you'd have that free breakfast that would save you on meals in the parks.

I just checked that Embassy Suites online, and they have rates for your timeframe from $139 a night. It looks very nice.

Its not walking distance, but the ART shuttle stops there. And its still very close to DL, something like one mile. I have always wanted to stay there, but somehow never have. My best friend and her husband did, and they raved about it. I love being across the street but have to say, for our next offsite stay at DL, that is where I'll stay. The larger, more modern room and facility, plus that wonderful breakfast cannot be beat.

You might try the Camelot Inn. They have a two room suite, but it may be a little overboard for your needs. I'm sure the kids will love the pool area. :thumbsup2

Do you have a car? If you do, I would try the Hampton Inn & Suites (I think they are right next to Embassy Suites). We are staying there in November and it is actually cheaper than Candy Cane Inn! It is 1 mile from Disney. If you don't have a car, they do have a shuttle or you can take the ART. It is officially in Garden Grove and not Anaheim when you are looking it up.

comfort inn maingate has a kid's suite with a door that closes (they have their own t.v., etc, in their room). however, be forewarned that it's no 5 star hotel, lol. they do offer a continental breakfast for free though, and the hotel is within walking distance of DLR. the hotel room entrances are on the outside, not in an indoor hallway. it has more of a "motel" feel to it. i think it's around $120 a night. it's not a "bad" place to stay if you need a kid's room attached (it's clean and updated), but it's not an exceedingly "nice" place, either.

good luck!

I have been in accomedations H-E-double hockey sticks, reading review after review, coming to the DIS boards for advice, pouring over each hotel's website...here's what I've come up with:

If you're interested in staying very close to the parks, saving money, and having a bit of room to move about (they have suites that can accomedate up to 10 people!), the Desert Inn and Suites might be fore you. Note that the breakfast has been rated horrible, people say the indoor pool sucks, and that the beds aren't nearly as comfortable as Hojos, but since Hojos isn't an option...

Double Tree has gotten great response, though. It's a bit out of your $200 a night with taxes cap, the total of a 2 room King Suite being $444.40 (which includes their parking, HIGHLY annoying to have to pay $11 a day for that). You and DH can relax in the King bed, and put the kids on the sofa bed, or even bring an air bed from home. I liked this option because you can call and splurge to have breakfast brought to you "in bed" without having to cook it yourself first!! Note that this option is further away (2 1/2 blocks) from the maingates, and with the babies I don't know if that's appealing for you. ART does make a stop, but I've heard bad things about it taking forever to get where you're going.

Hoped my research helped save you some! Good luck. :)

Again a vote for an offsite hotel if you don't mind driving or taking the ART. We stayed last year at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Garden Grove and are staying there again for our upcoming trip. Newly renovated rooms with full kitchens and a free hot deluxe breakfast. Mon-Thur night is a free Manager's Reception with light dinner fare and beer & wine.

We stayed there a couple years ago, it was great for us. They had those belgian waffle makers! We were in a kids suite (bunk bed w/ 2 Q's). It was me & my 2 kids (ages 7 & 4), my sister & her DS (he turned 1 shortly after we returned home) and my mom ~ I'm pretty sure I slept on the bottom bunk

We have stayed at Embassy Suites North on several occasions, and have really enjoyed it there for several reasons...

1. Nice comfortable beds and a door between the bedroom and the "living room" which allows for some grown up private time.

2. Wonderful hot made to order breakfast. We feel the breakfast here is nicer than the Embassy Suites South.

3. Dedicated free shuttle service to Disneyland. This location is about a 10-12 minute drive, but the shuttle is included in the price of the hotel and dedicated to this hotel only. I like to be in walking distance, but I much prefer this location to any that use the Anaheim transportation service buses.

4. Free alcoholic beverages in the evening, free sodas, along with free snack, and inexpensive offerings like pizza. We hit the manager's reception before heading back to the parks after our afternoon rest.

5. Wonderful indoor pool. Indoor pools remove the risk of sunburn and can be used in icky weather or poor air quality days.

Their prices fit inside your budget with room to spare.
