Help me figure out this scam

It is so easy to get information, and give it, without realizing you’re doing it.

Ever answered a post on FB asking what would your age be if it was reversed, or how far away do you live from the place you were born? Could be data mining.

Heck, there used to be threads here all the time that were potentially data mining threads.

I remember getting an American Express card at this address in somebody else's name (a name that has never been associated with this address at any point in time). I called them and told them no such person lived here. A few weeks later I got another one for that same person Called them and told them again.

Never had it happen again after that... either it stopped or that person got to the mailbox before we did the next time.
