DS8 was playing with his friend tonight. They were only outside running around and sitting across from each other playing cards. They haven't been together lately because the friend just came back from vacation yesterday. His mom wanted to talk to me. She said that they just found out that DS friend's little brother has head lice and they don't think that DS friend does but just wanted me to be aware. I have checked DS and haven't found anything. I'm just bug fobic. Please tell me that DS should be ok with the limited contact that he had with him today.

I have such a bug fobia that now course my head itches.

Those little critters are THE most annoying things. As long as they didn't have close contact or share a brush or hat. Did the friend sit or lay on your childs bed? Stuffed animal? Chair? That's what you need to watch for. My neice had lice and I went nutty trying to keep them from my kids
Just keep checking everyday for a week or so. It only takes one to lay eggs.

My head is itching too now!

Good Luck,
Kimba

I worked in a daycare when I was pregnant with my first son and I remember we had an outbreak of lice and I was going crazy with the itching. I never actually got it, it just kept freaking me out thinking I might be getting it. I kept thinking my head was itching. It almost drove me crazy!

Just to be safe you could rinse his hair with vinegar. It's pretty good at keeping them away and sometimes even killing them. When we were little my mom use to do a vinegar wash once a week with us and we never got lice, even when the whole class at school was infected. I bought a product once that keeps lice away and I'm pretty sure it was glorified vinegar.

I just found out the house I work in (I'm kinda like a house parent) gets infected quite often, talking about itching my head a lot latley, I'm over parinoid.

He should be ok though with minimal contact. Unless they were hugging, laying on his bed, sharing things, or sitting on couchs, etc he should be ok, they seem to be carried most by combs, and fabric.
