i am trying to plan my trip for dec 2018. we are staying offsite. we want to be there with holiday decorations. i was planning first week of dec but read that it was crowded last month. we can go right after thanksgiving. we do want to do christmas party. i will be travelling with people who despise waiting in line so i want to go with the lowest amount of wait times. when would u go, right after thanksgiving or first week of dec. please post any thoughts u have since i dont get feedback with travel companions.

Disney is always "crowded" and how bad crowds are is very subjective. I was there from Dec 19-27 and I didn't think the crowds were bad (even though it's the busiest time of year) but others would consider it to be a mad house.

If you utilize FPs to your advantage in the parks (scheduling your 3 in advance early in the day and refreshing throughout the day on the MDE app) your time waiting in line will be minimal to none. I didn't wait in one line my entire trip and did everything but FOP.

To answer you original question, I would go the first week of December.

Went the first week of Dec this year and it was very crowded fri-sun. During the week isn’t as bad.

This year going the week after Thanksgiving as it should be less crowds.

First week in Dec is a huge DVC time and there’s also a couple competitions that first weekend I believe but not 100% that’s true in 2018.

I’ll echo Bri’s advice on FP’s, use those to your advantage and you’ll spend way less time waiting.

A lot of people rescheduled their cancelled hurricane trips to December last year...
Crossing fingers nobody has to deal with that in 2018.

The main thing to look at is, regardless of whether that week is 'crowded' or not, you can be rest assured that the other weeks during the holiday season will be MORE crowded. So, if your goal is to be there during the Holiday season and still avoid crowds, you can't do much, if any, better than the first week of December, but you can do a whole lot worse.

Thanksgiving is Nov. 23rd, so the weekend ends Nov. 25. I don't think Pop Warner competition starts till Dec. 3rd or so based on previous years.

So I am guessing the week of Nov 25th till Dec. 1 will have the chance of being the least busy!
