I am debating on dinner at either 50's Prime Time or the Sci-Fi Theater. I've never been to either one so just want a little help with choosing which one. I already have our other meals reserved so unfortunately I can't choose both.

If it helps, I have 3 daughters, ages 11, 8, and 2.

Thanks!

Hi, I had exactly the same dilemma. I have 2 sons 12 & 10. We decided to go with sci fi. Wasn't sure how they'd deal with "elbows off the table" etc. Hopefully they will enjoy sci fi :)

We love Sci-Fi diner, the food is good and the atmosphere is so fun. We have eaten once at 50's PT as well. We enjoyed this but Sci-Fi is our favorite of the two. Your kids should enjoy the drive in setting as well. We have been 3 times now and try to go each trip.

50s Prime Time is old fashioned comfort food and very heavy so unless you are heavy eaters or plan to share it might not work. I've never liked it but I'm not a comfort food type person and the stick gets on my nerves. It is a cool place with all the old stuff laying around and the old snippets from TV shows playing, reminds me of my granny's house or our house growing up. Sci-fi will only fit 2 in a seat if you are in the cars, 3 probably with a little one so expect to have two kids sitting in front unless you specifically ask for a table in back. They have I think 6 people table tops with 3 on each side facing each other with your side toward the screen. We sat at one of those since we were 3 adults and actually liked it better than if we were in the cars. The food was o.k. I would describe it as fancy fast food, hamburgers and such. My son and DIL had the hamburgers and I had the veggie burger and it was pretty good and big servings, no way could I finish more than half mine.

50s Prime time is an old fashioned dinner where the theme is basically the old 50s kitchen and everyone knows everyone and the waitresses act like part of your family. Its a ton of fun, and with girls I think they might enjoy that better. Sci Fi is also a TON of fun and my boys LOVED it there...I definitely liked Sci Fi over 50s if I had to choose. But there is 1 issue with Sci Fi being they have limited number of spaces to accommodate a high chair. So not sure if your youngest needs a highchair or not. Most of the tables are in the cars in front of the big screen which is awesome, but then they have a few tables like 2 or 3 that can accommodate the high chair and its an actual table so you aren't really sitting in a car (which is pretty much the whole theme of the restaurant). Also in those tables you are sitting sideways not straight in front of the screen so I found it a little uncomfortable to be able to have to keep turning around in my chair to see the screen. Both places are awesome theming and you can't go wrong with either. If you don't need a highchair for the little 1 then what I would do is pull up pictures of both restaurants and then have your older 2 daughters pick which theme they like better.

50's Prime Time - We eat there on every trip. The food is really good. Really enjoy the fried chicken dinner.
The Sci-Fi - The atmosphere is what really makes this place fun. The food is just okay in my opinion. It's not bad, it's just okay. Very unique and fun. Everyone should eat there at least once. As far as food goes, I prefer the 50's Prime Time Cafe.

mmmm - that fried chicken at 50s Prime time is sooooo good! we really like both of those places and will be eating at both on our upcoming trip. if I had to pick one, especially with all girls, I think I would do 50sPT. My son loved Sci Fi but he is really into monsters. I find that the cars (although really cool and very kid-pleasing) to be awkward for dinner conversation.

We have gone to SciFi on every trip so on our upcoming trip I suggested 50s Prime Time but both kids said no. They didn't like the theme. We decided to stay with SciFi.

Depending on the size of those in your party, you probably can fit into two benches. I know when DS was 2 we fit all three of us in one row. (No high chair needed for him at that age.)

Last time we went we did 50s for lunch and then later in the evening got milkshakes and an appetizer at Sci fi. Both were good. I'd have a hard time picking between them!

We've tried both, prefer Sci-Fi for our party. I've always thought the theming for both venues was geared for adults. I mean, how old do you have to be to appreciate the corny films clips and drive-in movie theme, or the 50s era setting of Prime Time?

Haven't been to Sci Fi in a while due to poor food quality. Not sure when/if we will return.

50's Prime Time however, we have been to at least once a visit. I ALWAYS get the pot roast and it never fails me. Meat is alway tender and a alway polish off my plate. When not in the mood, the shtick can get old but that is the nature of the restaurant. I did misbehave once and had to sweep the floor..... Of course, my parents were with us and they couldn't stop laughing at me. (I'm in my late 40's). It was all in good fun :)

You can ask the server to cool it with the theming at 50's prime time. We go twice a year, have had different wait staff, and have never had a problem with them disregarding the request. One waiter thanked us and confided that he hated it, but it was a job expectation.

We love the food at 50's PT.

We went to 50s Prime Time Cafe out last trip and it was my favorite meal!! I often fantasize about the chicken pot pie....and brownie sundae! Soooo delicious! The atmosphere was also really fun and enjoyable.

Oh man.... I haven't been to 50s so I didn't know about the theming of it. I reserved it for my in-laws that are going the week before us. They are very backwards and shy. Should I cancel that? lol

Love sci Fi diner and Prime Time I would select PT because I simply find Sci Fi too dark and if there are more than 2 in your party and you sit in a cool car you can't really talk as a group.

I enjoyed the food way way way more at 50s. If I was going I'd pick 50s. However, with the ages of your children I think they would enjoy Sci Fi more. The atmosphere is really cool and I think kids love eating in the cars. I honestly have found the Sci Fi food to be of the worst I've had on property. I've been twice and both times very sub par food. Some people have had good luck though. PP is right about not really being able to visit though.

We like both, but I prefer '50s. I like the food better. The seating is awkward at Sci-Fi. You would have to have some people in the front and some in the second row in your car, so it's definitely not good for conversation. Plus, at Sci-Fi it's difficult to eat because you can't really see your food, utensils, etc. very well. You can't really go wrong with either, though, and in my opinion you should do both at least once at some point in time if you are able to!

Nope! Let them go and have a fun experience. The CM are pretty good at reading people and would tone down their shtick if they feel they need to...... I hope.

My family loves 50's, last week it was one of our best meals. We had a great waiter who was a lot of fun. We have gone there 3 times over the last ten years and this was one of our best visits. Everyone ordered something different and we all cleaned our plates: fried chicken is the best! We have done Sci fi and I think the theme is awesome and my girls liked it when they were little. I don't think you can go wrong at either place. I would look at the menus and decide what you think your family would enjoy best.
