We are a Disney loving family and every time we decide to go we can never figure out the best resort option for our family. I know we will have many chances to experience them all and always feel as the kids get older the Epcot area resorts sound like they would love them. However, for this trip we are debating between a Poly studio or a AKL one bedroom savannah view. Our boys are 10,7,4...we have stayed VGF, WL, AKL (when older ones were 4/2)....thoughts??

Well, since you've got three little boys to watch over at the pool I would not book the Yacht Club or Beach Club because the Storm Along Bay pool they share it is kind of hard to watch over your children because of all the things blocking your view. AKL one bedroom Savannah View sounds wonderful. Much better than a Poly studio. No comparison, really. With all the new attractions and night time ROL coming to Animal Kingdom Park, there are even more reasons to choose the AKL. Enjoy your planning!

We stayed at Kidani a couple years ago in a one bedroom with a savannah view and loved. This is one of my favorite resorts to go to and look forward to going back there some point. I would think that a poly studio might be a little cramped with the 5 of you staying there. The benefit of poly is if you are going to be spending more time at MK you are just a quick boat/monorail ride back to your resort if you need a break or anything like that.

I think you'd be very squished in a studio, so I'd go with the 1 bdrm.

I'd go Poly all the way. Easy access to both MK and Epcot, as well as a lot of great restaurants. We've always stayed in standard rooms or studios - we don't notice the squish since we're either out enjoying the parks and resort or asleep. ;) The Poly has 2 showers, which would help with getting ready, and its location makes for easy afternoon breaks.

Do you prefer the convenience of the monorail or the extra space of a one bedroom?

It is a tough call. Both the AKL and the Poly are gorgeous resorts. I think that if it were me, I would go with the Poly. The Poly is amazing and a great place to stay with kids the ages of yours. It might be a bit cozy, but as the children get older that will be even more the situation. So I would save the AKL one bedroom for a later visit when the Poly might not fit as well anymore.

Plus, at this younger age you will still be frequenting the MK a lot. As the kids get older, you may find a switch in interest to DHS and Epcot.

The Poly has just finished a big refurb and is a really nice place to stay at the moment. It also has monorail access to the other monorail resorts and you can walk to the TTC for a monorail to Epcot!

Enjoy!

It is a tough call because I do love both places. I stayed at the Poly with my mom and youngest DH in December and we enjoyed it and our last Nov trip we stayed at VGF and also loved it. We are driving so the easy access factor doesn't bother me as much as we have all been and we like to spend the week enjoying the resort and the parks. My DH keeps saying AKL because the kids will love the animals and there will be an age when that novelty will wear off I am sure.

The only 2 resorts we've stayed in were the Poly (11/13) when ds was 6 and this Thanksgiving (11/15) we stayed at the Beach Club when he was 8 yrs old. While we liked BC, we Loved the Poly. The BC was a very pretty resort , room was brand new and gorgeous- but we missed the Poly. We really missed the monorail and the BC just seemed way more spread out. Afternoon breaks just seemed much easier when we stayed at the poly. The pool is enormous and very nice, but ds liked the Poly's pool alot better. The pool at the BC is very hard to watch your child in- alot of things block your view and not easy to relax around, at least for, it made me abit nervous. So while the BC was nice, we'll definitely be booking a MK resort for our next trip - hopefully the Poly again :)
I hope you have a great trip wherever you choose!
