Help me decide...Wave, Grand Fl. Cafe or Kona for dinner?

Thinking of trying a new restaurant this trip and can't decide on these 3 restaurants. We have been to Kona before, but thinking of trying 1 of the other 2.

Just me and my 14 year old daughter will be dining - she most likely will be ordering a steak of some sort.

the steak at the wave is probably the best if the 3. it is almost signature quality.
I agree 100%. The steak at GF was good but definitely without a doubt not as good as the one at the Wave. The Wave was one of my best meals last trip. Its incredible. And i agree that its signature quality. There's a pic in my link below my signature.

Since you've been to Kona already, I'd give the nod to the Wave. A very overlooked restaurant with a lot of really good choices.

we were staying at BLT last week. Got rained out of going to EPCOT, did the wave on spur of the moment. It was pretty much everyone's favorite meal of the trip. We will be back for sure.

We always like Kona, but we enjoyed The Wave very much, as well.

GFC: service was ultra, ultra slow at lunch. Food was inconsistent. My reuben was soggy to the point of liquid pooling beneath the bread. One person didn't get their order with the rest. Server was pleasant but ditzy. Just an undewhelming experience.

The food at the Wave was wonderful but they just don't have a view, of anything! We always go to Grand Floridian Cafe during our christmas holiday in WDW as we are obsessed by their surf and turf burger and dessert plate, we haven't had a problem with the service. I wouldn't say they could be compared as the Wave is definitely a signature dining experience.

We had a booking for Kona two years ago but they were working on the roof and so we left before ordering as it was so noisy it was a meal to be endured and not enjoyed. We have made another booking for this December, 2nd time lucky.

Another vote for The Wave! We just went at the end of August and it was a big hit with our family. My DS16 and I had the scallop risotto and DD14 and DH had the steak. My daughter said the potatoes were to die for.... Its our newly discovered favourite! Our server was fantastic :)

We also went to Kona and we all enjoyed the noodle bowl but DS16 found it quite spicy. DH had the steak... he ate it but did not rave about it. Our server was nice but not great.

this is very true and why it is never on my list. i had it from room service at blt and the steak was amazing though. that said the op asked about food and specifically steak and the waves filet wins hands down (i believe they also have a ribeye... or had last I checked)

when I go to Disney experience is as important as food to me. "the wave" should be called "the cave" lol, but they make a great steak! if this place had a view they would have to make it 2 credits to answer demand... the menu is just a smidge below signature and only its location /lack of experience keeps it as a hidden treasure imo.

We went last week and the only one of those three we hit was the Wave, but it was by far the best dining we had the week there. Food was outstanding and the service was top notch. Told my wife when we left that I thought it was much better than California Grill at a much better price. Steak was outstanding. Definitely on my list to hit every visit now.

During non-peak times of the year and when a convention isn't sending forth a hundred hungry attendees, how crowded does The Wave get for dinner this these days?

It was pretty open. I picked my reservation time (whenever I wanted) a day or two before we went (actually, may have been that day).

We love The Wave. I think we eat 7 out of 10 breakfasts there every trip. I think its a hidden gem.

Tough choice...I think they're all on a pretty even playing field. I'd pick the menu that is most appealing or the restaurant closest to where you'd like to spend your evening.

The cave!! :rotfl:So true! I love the food there, though.

The Wave! We were disappointed in the food at the Grand Floridian overall. We order a lot of room service so we can eat early before heading to the parks at night without having to go out somewhere...and it just missed the mark for us. The Wave was really good each time I've eaten there.

We are big fans of the wave. I think it is a hidden gem at WDW. I have never had an issue getting in there and always had great service.

We love the Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner! Great drinks and everybody loved their meals, wasn't one complaint. Well the only complaint was I couldn't finish my plate and I felt guilty about it because it was so delicious. So good we tried to recreate it at home and its now something we like to make for family meals. Atmosphere is nice, service great but a tad bit slow or laid back, but we didn't mind because it was thunder storming out at the time.
