DVC called and left a message that my waitlist came through (I have to call them back to reserve it) for a 1 bw standard view BWV in April - we had a boardwalk view studio reserved, but added on more points and thought we'd like the extra room. On the trip will be me, DH and DD15. We have the extra points, but I wondering whether its worth it to give up the view for the extra room and privacy. Anyone had this quandry before? This will be our first DVC trip to our BWV home resort. Thanks!

I would probably pick the view over the extra room, but that's just me. You could always book the extra space WITH Boardwalk view on future trips. I love that view!

Funny, I recently had a similar choice due to a waitlist and chose the 1 BR. How many nights are you staying? I always choose the 1BR if the points are there so if DW wants to go to bed early, I can use the living room area and most importantly, if the stay is 3 nights or more, I want the washer/dryer. To me, the 1BR preferred view would be a toughter decision but getting a standard view on a waitlist is great- a bigger place AND not as many points (vs the preferred).

Personally, I would definitely choose the BWV 1 Bedroom Standard View over a Studio Boardwalk View anytime. The separate bedroom, the jacuzzi, the washer and dryer, the kitchen, the larger balcony, two TV's, etc... versus a Boardwalk view. We enjoy the Boardwalk while we are walking around on it. Every standard view that we have had has overlooked the entrance and has a very nice view of the fireworks from our Standard View balcony.

1 BR all the way! You aren't in your room that much anyway. I've heard concerns about the noise late at night from the Boardwalk view rooms, and you get a full-size kitchen, fridge etc. not to mention the jacuzzi tub mentioned above.

First I would go for the 1 BR. The rooms are gorgeous! Second, I would go for the view. I booked a 1 BR Standard view for ESPN Weekend. The more I thought about it, I should have booked the BW View as we had it back in Sept. It just makes it that more special looking over the BW. I changed it but I'm waitlisted for the first night in the BW view. I need pixie dust!pixiedust: pixiedust:

I absolutely adore the BW view and book it all the time. However, given your choice I would pick the 1 bedroom. The larger unit adds more to the overall experience than the view, IMHO. I am glad I am not in your shoes. I would cry if I had to give up a BW view.

I would pick the 1 bedroom. As much as I love the bw view, I love the space of a one bedroom more. Let us know what you decide!

DITTO!

Another vote for the 1 BR - be prepared to never go back to a studio though. I had a 6 night trip last year and spent 3 at OKW in 1 BR and 3 in studio at SSR to be able to have an extra day. My priorities when I have to make this kind of decision are length of stay, size of rooms and finally view. In your case LOS doesn't come into your decision.

Hands down - the one bedroom standard with three of you. I love my home -BWV - and I book this often. If you want the view, it's a quick walk to the lobby area and lots of rockers on the balcony that looks over Village Green and the lake/boardwalk. Great spot to enjoy a morning coffee!

Absolutely the 1-bedroom with a teenager. You will love the privacy and the standard views are great! The boardwalk view is nice, but doesn't compare with the beautiful 1-bedroom for a relaxing vacation.
Have a great time!!

Normally we would advise to go with the 1BR for all the reasons mentioned - however for some reason - call it intuition - since it is your first trip and you have a teenager along we think you should go with the boardwalk studio and then next time go with the bigger unit

Oh how I wish I had this problem!!!
If it were me, I would have to go with the 1 BR, but it would kill me. Even when it is just my DD (19) and I, we need the 1 BR. She needs the privacy, I need the bubbly tub. And the washer/dryer makes packing a breeze.
But next time, stop the madness and book the 1BR with the Boardwalk View at 11 months out!

Wow - thanks for all of the advice- I love disboarders. I think jaysue is reading my mind. Here's our currrent decision. We are still on the waitlist for 1BR Boardwalk view, but turned down the other 1BR. Since we've never had a BW view before, we decided to stay with the studio BW view rather than take the extra space. DDteen says "who cares about a view" while me and DH say "What's the point of staying at BWV if you can't look out and realize where you are?" Its only 3 days, so next trip, now that we have the extra points, I'll book a 1br at 11 months (i'm already thinking Xmas 08)

Good call. If I were you, I think I would've done the same. I down own BWV nor have I stayed there yet, but I imagine my first time I'd be looking for something special. A standard view facing the driveway is not it.

3 days is short enough for you not to miss the extra space and laundry room.
