I was going to do the ddp with my boys. 8&9. Then I just talked my mom into going with us. The price before my mom was going to be $800 for 13 nights. Now it will be around $1200. We have our ADRs and it's not a problum to add her to them. But hello $1200. That costs all most as much as our trip. I was also thinking we could do the dining plan and then pay oop for her as she eats less than the kids. The only problum I see with that is we have 3 buffets planned at like $30 adult. and then the Candlelight proc in epcot. So on that note it almost might be worth it to do the plan, what do you all think. We could still share at TS and counter services and then have breakfast credits left over. I think we can eat for under $100 a day, but it would be all CS. Let me know what you think. Mum

Well, is your Mom staying in your room with you & the boys? Because if she is, the DDP becomes an all or nothing idea...everyone in the room must get it or not. That being said, why doesn't your mother pay for it?

Personally, we love the plan & your boys being the ages they are, you may not want to do it in the future. We did the DDP for the first time when my guys were 8 & almost 10 & it was fantastic!! This year, if it wasn't for free dining, we would not do it as now our oldest is 11 so the price triples for him.

Anyway, you will probably have some left over food at your TS meals but it really is nice to have the choice of many different meals without looking at the prices all the time. If you can afford it, do it!!

It is not weather my mom or I pays for it, it is the idea of $1200. She is not on our ressies. My Gosh that would be like 3 months worth of groceries for our house. It just seems like a lot. We are in a fridge swap the whole time we are there. So we could keep lunch meat and stuff, and take snacks and have breakfast stuff for the boys. I'm pretty sure we can do it for under $1200 was my thought. But do we want to be able to have all of the table service choices and then the snacks also. I had a really hard time trying to decide on some TS res. becouse we didnt like to many of the places we ate at last year.

Well, how much less can you do it for. Really.
If you do all CS, give up the Candle light package and buffets and buy some groceries for the room (but you do have to pay for those) Maybe $65 a day?

4 child CS meals= $16
Mickey Bars or other treat x 4= $10
4 Adult CS meals w/drink =$34
Breakfast in room. This is a wash since DDP doesn't really cover breakfast.

Round up because there is tax. $65+ a day. And the kids CS meals get old after awhile so I bet you would end up letting the order off adult menus sometimes.

Add back in the couple of buffets and the candle light package and it will be more like, $85 a day (averaged out).

So $85 x 13 =$1105

So for $95 a total you go from 2 CS meals most days, to a TS daily. Plus I did not price in any desserts!

What I am trying to say is this: Go for the DDP, you will not be sorry. Save desserts for breakfast the next day if it is too much food.

I agree with Haley...as much as 1200 for food sounds- you will spend it anyway and with the plan, you won't have to worry about spending it b/c you will have it figured in ahead of time.

My parents and I are going for only 3 nights so it's about 350 bucks for the meal plan. My dad was freaking out saying that we could eat for less than $117 a day...that was until he realized that MY meal alone at Narcoossee's (which he wants to eat at) will run 82.00 with tax/gratuity! It took some prodding but they got smart and decided to buy the meal plan for all of us.

Spending 1200 bucks on food for a week stinks, but I'd much rather just grin and pay it ahead of time then cringe at every bill for every meal while at Disney. It takes the fun away from it all when you have to think...lobster or chicken...."can we afford the lobster"....with the DDP you can get what you want.
