Help me decide -- child AP or not?

Doing the pricing for our trip and between the DVC AP rate for a child and regular 7 day PH tickets, there's a $90 difference.

We live close enough that we could possibly eek out another WDW trip this summer, but I will be looking for a job soon, so travelling this summer is up in the air (although last minute travel plans are always great...did that last year...booked an AP package 1 week before travel).

Also my husband is a school teacher and his Spring Break this year is April 3-9 (when we are going) and next year it will fall April 1-7, so DD's AP would only be good for two days of next year's trip (again if we go during that time -- our town hosts a "little" golf tournament each year, and while the locals head out, if you are working -- like I probably will be -- who knows about getting time off).

I'm leaning towards getting it anyway, just in case we go back this summer, but help me think this out.

getting the AP lets you potentially throw in a Holiday trip in December. Also even if you only get 2 days out of it next year, that's really 9 days that you're comparing a 7 day ticket to (so your pricing difference will change).

Could you get the TiW card off of a childs AP? If so, and depending on what your planning to do about dining, that might make it worth it.

I believe the APs are actually good for 366 days after first use (in your case they would say something like "valid through 4/3/2012" on them if you first use/purchase them on 4/3/2011) so you should be able to use them again on April 1st, 2nd & 3rd of 2012 . You would be getting 10 days use out of the AP vs. only 7 with the PH. You would also have access to various AP-holder discounts. The extra days and discounts would easily exceed the $90 difference.

It is 366 days, but 2012 is a leap year, so 366 days ends on 4/2/2012 in your hypothetical.

I'd get the AP. You might consider not activating it for a day or two this trip and doing other things that are not park related such as minor parks, shopping, etc early this trip and do the reverse late next year's trip. With minimal planning and effort I think you can get both trips out of one AP. In part it depends on what type of tickets the rest of the family will have. You might also consider shorter non park hoping tickets that will expire separately for each trip or a 10 day ticket to cover both years.
