I may be jumping the gun a bit.......as we're still waiting to find out if we pass ROFR and we're not going until August 09, but I hate being inbetween trips and have to plan to keep my mind busy.......

If the contract passes, we have 44 points currently available and will get another 160 points in the spring so I guess we will bank the 44 and have 204 points available for August 09 if I am understanding correctly.

But here's my two lines of thinking currently:

1) Use my 44 banked points and another 93 points from my 2009 points and stay a week at AKV Concierge for a 1-week stay. We would have to bank the rest of our 2009 points to use in 2010. (Is this an option- can you use your banked points from the year before and turn around and bank some of the current's year's points for the next year???)

2) Use 74 points to stay at the Poly for a Sunday-Monday. And then use 122 points to stay at AKV Concierge for 6 nights. I know this is not a great use of points to stay at the Poly, but I would really love to stay there and hate to pay cash for it when I have the points to use. I would still have another 8 points left over to bank for the next year. This would give me 8 nights plus I've always wanted to stay at the Poly.

WWYD? I'm kind of leaning toward Option #2. Is either one of them not something I can do?

TIA!

First of all, what is your home resort going to be? If it is NOT AKV, don't plan on getting a concierge ressie there, because there are only 5 two bedroom lock offs available, and with the new booking policy they will be nearly impossible to get even at the 11 month booking window.

IF your contract IS at AKV, you will have to be on the phone right at 11 months from your check in day to try and reserve that concierge ressie.

I would not pay DVC points for a regular hotel room, but you are free to do so if you don't mind the extra cost. Remember, it isn't just the point cost. There is also a $95 exchange fee. So you have to figure the cost of the points plus the maintenance fee plus the exchange fee.

Yes, you can use banked points and current year points and still bank current year points into the next use year.

Home resort is SSR..........
So getting a studio concierge is going to be hard at the 7 month window? If so, DARN!!!
I hadn't thought about the fact that there is the $95 fee. Oh well, I could swing that......but what is this about the maintenance fees? Would I have to pay maintenance fees to the Poly or are you just talking about the regular monthly dues on my 160 points (plus the monthly dues on the 44 points I am getting from this year) at $4.21/pp?????
Thanks!

Does anybody else know the answers to my questions in the previous post?
Thanks!

It's just the monthy maint. fees/dues you are paying on the points.

Thanks!
I know its not the best use of points (plus the $95 fee), but I still would love to stay at the Poly and since I've got the points, I think I'll go with my 2nd option.:woohoo:
