Help me cross Club 33 off bucket list?

First, my apologies for this type of post, as I know there are always a ton of them. But a very slim chance of someone being able to help is better than not saying anything and having no chance.

I will be at DL next Monday or Tuesday (9 and 10th), and would desperately love to get to eat at Club 33. Lunch, dinner, any time at all. I don't need a park ticket, I already have one. If anyone can help me cross this off my bucket list it would mean a lot. Thanks!

Well, I guess I'll be the one to respond first this time. :goodvibes

Yes, you are correct: Requests like this get posted quite frequently. Occasionally, though very rarely, someone will get their dream at the kindness of another DIS member.

Just a few things for you to keep in mind:
  • You have never posted on DIS before (welcome!) which means that no one even has a sense of anything about you
  • A member who allows a person to use their membership for a visit accepts all responsiblity for that person's actions
  • A member who allows a person to use their membership for a visit accepts all financial responsibility for the person, should they not pay for their meal/drinks
  • If someone does decide to share their priviledge with you, they need to be able to get a reservation, which can often be difficult and take quite a bit of advanced notice
  • Sometimes, dreams do sometimes come true. :wizard:

I fully understand I'm not known here and I'm would be willing do whatever necessary to make someone feel comfortable with me.

I've been a member of the board for a year+, I just haven't posted until now.

I know making a reservation for me would constitute a financial commitment, I would be willing to send money to cover that commitment to be refunded afterwards.

I could provide access to my Facebook profile to allow anyone to get to know me a bit.

Hopefully you will get to cross it off, but I highly doubt there is a reservation time available given the time of year and short notice.

Unfortunately, as Girimama33 stated, there would be absolutely nothing left for reservations, many time at 2-3 months most times are booked. Our family was gifted 3 years ago by a very kind member(s), experiences I will never forget. Have a great trip..and yes there are many people who post looking for reservations.

I wish the very best of luck with your request!! If it doesn't happen this time make a name for yourself on our board and perhaps your dream will come true on a different visit.

As Dreams said, Dreams can come true! :)

I'm very happy to see this happens on the the DIS forums. I think it is really cool that people are willing to do that. Guess after enough time on a forum people start feeling like friends!

In my opinion you are totally correct. I only post on this site because I have loved Disney for many years, but i feel a number of people here are my vitual/actual friends. I may have somes conflicting views but i find it entertaining watching some of the posts and hopefully adding some wisdom and a few photo's to go along with the experiences.

Never say never. Maybe it will happen at some point in the future, or maybe someone will gift you with a random act of kindness. There are some really nice DIS'ers out there!

(Keep in mind, though, there are a lot of people who have been on The DIS for ages and who have never been to Club 33.)

Basically, as others have said, even though you've been a member of The DIS since 2011, no one knows you. Seeing a Facebook page is not going to remedy that right now. There is a certain familiarity that we all have with each other on the DIS because everyone actively posts, participates in many discussions and gains a 'reputation,' for lack of a better word. (And then, after we get to know each other on The DIS and realize we are reasonably sane and normal, some of us may become Facebook friends!:rotfl2:).

Just keep posting and participating as much as you can so that people can get to know you!

Since a lot of respected long time posters are here, I would just like to say thank you for all the wisdom and knowledge you share! I don't post much, but I appreciate all of you for what you do! Maybe someday when I'm out of college and have a family, I'll be able to post frequently! (As well as make my 2nd trip to DLR :) ) Hope your Club 33 dream comes true!

Yup unfortunately the timeline isn't going to work out :( I went about 10 years ago under a coworker's membership and we booked several months (maybe even close to half a year, don't recall right now) out. As with most things, if you're persistent, you'll eventually get it, just a matter of time :thumbsup2

I have never even put it on my bucket list since I can't see it ever happening ! Not sure I know anyone , who knows someone, who is a member LOL !

This would sum us up as well.

I do have a lot of family in SoCal, but I would never think of just randomly asking a stranger for there use of membership.

To the OP, good luck on your search.

Same here. In the past I've tried to ask a few "friends of friends" - knowing full well that twice or thrice removed from the source isn't likely to happen.

It's too risky for most members to permit a stranger or friend of a friend. If the club member is someone's employer, often the worker has to accompany their friend. They can't just give the privilege to a friend.

Club 33 really would be a dream come true... I'm with everyone else that this is probably a long shot, but I would love to hear that someone granted your wish!

Goodluck!

I was thinking the same thing

Wouldn't it be great to see what it was like behind those doors :woohoo: We are going in October and while we are there we look for the door and while we walk by we see if anyone is going in and what they look like because part of the fun is people watching;)

Good luck with your wish, it is after all DLR where dreams come truepixiedust:

I'd also love to experience Club 33 (got to tour 1901 so got a bit close!), but really have no expectation of it being gifted to me. However, a slim chance is to join D23 and hope they repeat something similar to the Off The Map day they did a few months ago. It sold out in a flash, and folks didn't know they were going to Club 33 for dinner (just guessed, correctly as it turned out), but still, a bit more likely than having someone set you up. If that tour comes up again, I'll try for it myself!
