We are new to DVC and would like to create a spreadsheet that allows us to compare dues/fees/etc with what our out of pocket would have been had we booked normally. In the end I want to be able to see each trip compared, as well as a running total of when we'd approximately break even, and our savings thereafter. I would guess that others do this or something similar? If you do, please share how do you break it all down, what your columns are, etc. Maybe a screenshot? I'm confused on how to begin!

Thanks so much!

When I was crunching the numbers I just did a Bing search of DVC spreadsheets. I and found a great article along with a spreadsheet that you can load and enter all your own numbers into. I believe it was on Mouse Planet... it was great for a visual on exactly what the costs were going to be, we took the DVC plunge in May and this spreadsheet really helped.:thumbsup2

Since you've already bought into DVC, you probably already did a lot of this kind of financial analysis. So my advice - just let it go. Don't continue to second guess your decision. Plus, you may even start to vacation differently with DVC - so the comparison may not even be accurate.

This is coming from a Type-A, highly analytical type (by day I'm a CFO). Just have to believe you've made the right decision and will be saving money over the long run.

Nope, no second guessing here, we know it's worthwhile. We just want to watch the progress and celebrate at the end!

I created this while I was shopping around, hope it helps ... let me know what you think

Also, don't forget you can rent points for 13 dollars a point... so you should do that math too.. if you buy for 50 dollars per point and it costs say 4.50 a point then it is 50 / (13-4.5) about 8 years pay off just from renting points... I think you will find your math will work out to about the same pay off for your vacations too.
