For some reason my kids are so uninterested in going to MGM. I've shown them pictures, read them reviews, talked about the shows and rides. When I bring up going to MGM they go, "Can't we just go to AK or MK again?" We are going for 7 days this upcoming trip and I've told the kids that we ARE going to MGM (basically because *I* want to go on RNR LOL!) Anyway, my kids are 10, 7, and 4. What is it that your kids like about MGM. I keep reading where people say that MGM is their kids' second favorite park (after MK) and I'm having to tie mine up with duct tape and drag them there. Help me convince my kids that it would be as much fun as the rest of the WDW parks!! I'm sure once we get there that they will have fun and enjoy it (right?) So how do I get them there without making it seem like I am torturing them?

The shows at MGM are spectacular, and Fastasmic is the best fireworks and end of the night show in the entire World!! If the kids like movies, they'll love the park. The muppets are awesome, and if they like more thrilling attractions, Tower of Terror and Rockn rollercoaster are tough to beat! Good luck getting them in- once they're there, they might not want to leave!!

I would make an itinerary for your stay and include one day for MGM.

Once you have shown them all the fun things to do (my 5yo loves this park!) it is really up to them to go along and like it or to ruin it for you. I would make it very plain that anyone who plans to "disrupt" the fun will be dealt with severely. A family vacation is for all members. Our son knows that he does not have to go on all the rides, but he also knows that he cannot prevent anyone from going on the rides that they want.
If you give in, you will set a precedence for all future trips.

MGM is a lot of fun and I'm sure they will LOVE it!!!!

How about planning a character breakfast or lunch at H&V?

I think MGM has really improved in the last few years. The shows are spectacular. Beauty and the Beast and Hunchback were my kids favorites. Fantasmic is awesome. Also, preschool kids really like the Bear in the Big Blue House show, they can sing and dance along with the characters. The rides are some of the best in the parks. I really like R&R and TOT. There is something for every age group. I like MGM better than AK, although MK is still my favorite.

Almost forgot, they have a wonderful parade with many characters that aren't featured in other parks.

My now 10 year has loved since he was 6 - R&R, TOT, Indian Jones Show, Backstage Tour, Star Tours, Muppets 3D, and of course FANTASMIC! We would never miss at least spending 1 day of our vacation in the MGM park. If they have never been then they do not realize what they are going to miss. I would definitely add this park to my itinerary. Have a wonderful time!!

I would take them to MGM at night. The atmosphere is great!!! I was surprised that our kids that age really liked MGM at that time. They even picked it as their park to go to the last night we were there one year. Once they get there they will like the RNR and TOT. Then take them to fantasmic. That just might do it for you.

I love MGM! Your kids will have to love it. There is so much to do and it's got alot of action all around you. I say drag 'em into MGM and just wait becuase you are going to have to drag them out, because they won't want to leave. Tell them to give it a chance. They just might surprise themselves. Mickey

Don't forget that MGM has Toy Story and Pizza Planet. The Stars and Cars Parade has loads of characters too. Fantasmic is not to be missed either.

I love MGM. It is by far my favorite park. And my DS (5) loves the shows better than rides, so he loves it as well. Unfortunately, I just heard the hunchback show (his favorite) has been discontinued, but to make up for it, Beauty is running all seven days.

Some of my favorite things: the show before Beauty is awesome. I think better than Beauty. Don't miss it.

Star Tours: the best ride. jmho. They will love "going into outerspace". It is a simulator ride, so even your youngest (if tall enough) should enjoy it.

The characters here are great, some you will only see here.

I usually save MK until we have visited a few other parks, so DS has something to anticipate. YOu might try MGM early in the trip and see how they like it.

oh my , i cant believe anyone would have to be talked into going to mgm...its my favorite and all of my families fav... i think it has the most to offer in way of rides and shows...i think the kids will be extra surprised at themselves for doubting the park..have fun...

For heavens sakes, they are of an age where you just take them. They will thank you later. Reasoning doesn't always work with kids that age. Do they even know about the Tower of Terror or Rock'n Roller or the Muppet theater or Star Wars or Indiana Jones or any of the rest of it. Have them unhappy for a few minutes they will snap out of it soon enough. JMHO!!

There are so many awesome things at MGM! Wow, just a few are ToT, RnR, Muppets, Great Movie Ride, WWTBAM, Backlot Tour, Indy Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Fantasmic, etc, etc. You really should convince them to go!

Disnee Dad Says................................ When your darling children pay for the trip then they can tell you where to go! It's the golden rule. He/she who has the gold rules!

The Toy Story characters, Monsters Inc, as well as in the central Plaza by the HAT the green army men show from Toy Story and lots and lots of movie characters, Hercules, the Evil Queen, Mary Poppins, etc.

My kids reallllly enjoyed this park, everything from WWTBAMM (my 6 year old DS was CONVINCED he could get himself into the hot seat LOL!) to the backstage tour and the all the shows. They still talk about how fun/scary TOT was.

They will enjoy it once they get there, just go and have fun.

sry but this time i'll take the side of the kids minus the rockin rollarcoaster and the tower of terror there are ****no**** things to do minus shows it is very un kid oreantid
maybe you should wait a few more years so they can finaly have fun there!

well, it's not my favorite park, but I agree with those who say it's not up to the kids. I would make a schedule and say, right today it's MGM day, and let that be that. If the kids say, but we prefer AK, then you can just consult your schedule and say - looks like we will be there on Tuesday, so they know they will still get to see their favorites as well.

My dd is 4 and she really enjoyed Bear in the Big Blue House, the Backstage Tour/Catastrophe Canyon, and the Belle Show - we did other things, but I think those where her favorites.

There are also some cool restaurants in there, Sci Fi cafe may appeal to them, or Hollywood and Vine.

What about Honey I Shrunk the...............playground?
Have your kid watch some of the movies (Beaty & the Beast, Toy Story, Little Mermaid, Star Wars, Muppets, Indiana Jones etc.....) to get them in the mood before you go. Also get them a vacation video and let them see for theirselves. Try planning 1/2 days at the park, say 1 morning and then 1 late afternoor into evening.

We love MGM, but We usually go there the EE day. Spend half a day there go back to the resort and hang out by the pool and then go back late afternoon for early dinner and Fantasmic. My DD is 7 and she loves Star Tours, Muppets 3 D, Indiana Jones, The Vouage of the little mermaid, The Great Movie ride, Beauty and the beast, RnR, TOT. I love the shopping there.
Maybe you should take them there in an afternoon to do some rides and see Fantasmic and see how it goes.

I like Disnee dad's idea. It's your vacation too! Though I will agree that the kids will love it too. The older one should love the TOT and R&R. Indian Jones is awsome as well as Star Tours. Our family likes to play WWTBAM. MGM has some of funnest places to eat too. H&V for a character meal (we like this a lot) Prime time and Sci-fi are fun too. Fantasmic is also a family favorite. While MGM is my and my DS's least favorite of the 4 main parks, we do still love it and as it is my DH's favorite partk, it gets equal time from us in the parks.

I can't believe they don't want to go to MGM. Do they like thrill rides? ToT and Rockin Roller Coaster are two of Disney's best. Do they like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, or the Muppets? They all have attractions here. How about Disney movies and TV shows like Beuty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Toy Story, or Bear in the Big Blue House? They all have attractions here. See if any of these things sound interesting to them, maybe they'll change their mind.
