Hey! I sailed on the 1/4 Western Magic with my Aunt (MMouse37) and family. I had such a good time! It was a combination of the who I went with the staff, and the beautiful places that we went to. All I have been thinking about since we got off the ship is when am I going to get to go back. They are sailing again in May and I desparately want to join! The problem: I'm a college student who only works when I come home for breaks so I need to borrow ;) some money from my parents. Any suggestions on how I could ask them? All suggestions will be considered!!! :Pinkbounc

Hey There gaga4girish - I probably saw you in the pictures your aunt posted on here - funny. I just graduated from college (BU) last May and can sympathize with you. I just got back from a trip on the wonder going solo because my friends couldn't afford to go (still had an awesome time and met so many great people). First things first - does your family have any interest in going? Have you shown them the pictures from your trip - when I saw all your aunt's photos, I just wanted to go even more!!! If they are not going, are you sharing a stateroom with another friend/relative? That is one way to cut costs - single stateroom fees are kind of steep. Ok, now as far as asking mom and dad for money - what I suggest is trying to make some money for the trip on your own (maybe babysitting near campus, selling stuff on ebay, working a few hours a week at a coffee shop or something) and then asking to borrow the rest from them. They know you'll pay them back since you work when you're on summer break. If this doesn't work, something you may consider is charging the trip - as much as I dislike this idea, it is a solution as long as you know you can pay it off eventually. I would do whatever you can to get yourself back on that ship. I know that all I keep thinking is "when can I go back???". Good luck - hope you get to go!!!!

Hi, how about as an early Birthday gift??? I see that you were born 4 days before my daughter(7/18/84). Maybe you could also get a job working on a Sat. or Sunday?? Babysitting may be a good option, you are older than most who want to sit and young children will go to sleep early and leave you time to study! Good Luck! Joan

Thanks guys! I'm an early childhood/childhood major so I should try to babysit a few nights a week, it is just hard with my schedule up at school. I should just tell my parents to add it onto the car insurance bill that I need to pay by the end of the summer. I did try and tell my parents that it is a big birthday for me(21 baby:jester: ) but I do not know if they are buying into it.

My sister graduates from college the same week that we would be sailing so I guess, that posses another problem. I'm trying my hardest to put in extra work hours when I am home and we will see what I can come up with. :D

You are making me feel bad....you know I wish I could pay for your trip as well, but I have to scrape just to go ourselves!!!! I really need another full-time job!!! Remember to tell mom and dad that they are invited too....I know dad will go, you have to convince mom that cruising is great.

Remember to tell them that it will be so cheap as you will be joining Keri and her roomates to make 4 in the cabin. Add the cabin up and divide by 4 and you all save money!!!!

You know if I thought it would do any good I would plead your case....but with Ann graduating that week...I don't know!!! Good luck!!! Hope you can come again!

Aww stop it, don't feel bad at all. I just wanted to see some ideas. I think they would act different if it wasn't Ann's graduation. We will see what I can do. If not this time, definately next time :D

My suggestion is....do really well on your grades this semester....and see if that helps your case?.......That would work for me and my college freshman! Best wishes on your plight!

jlawall: Thanks, I've been working hard this semester, and they know that, so hopefully it will work. hehe I could also just tell them to add it to everything esle that I owe them.
:D
