Well it's pretty much a guarantee that our October trip will be cancelled. DH doesn't have any more paid time off anymore and his job won't let him take the extra days off :(

Once I cancel the flight, we have til April of next year to re-book.

So ... I'm looking at either beginning of June (arrive May 28 Saturday to June 4 or 5) or beginning of October again (probably Oct 1 Saturday to the 8th or 9th)

I'm thinking mostly weather, crowds, that sort of thing. I expect October to have shorter hours and of course some Halloween stuff, but is there anything else I need to know to compare the two?

on a side note, many of you suggested contacting my credit card company for reimbursement for the flight cancellation fee ($200 PER ticket, so $800+!!!!).
It says a doctor needs to confirm in writing that the illness is severe enough to interrupt of cancel the trip. I asked my dr if he thinks I can go make a trip to DL this October and he said he doesn't see a problem. So I'm not sure I can ask him to write that letter. Seems like asking him to lie. Anyone got any advice or similar experience? I've never had to cancel a trip so this bites

I **always** vote for October. The crowds are so much better and the weather is fantastic.
I assume you're talking about 2016?

The Halloween stuff is fantastic. I like it more than Christmas. They blow it out.

Sorry, yes, next year. We were all schedule to go this October but I got really sick and hubby had to take tons of time off to help care for me and the kids.

It also depends a little how much you want to see the 60th Anniversary Celebration. The guessing is that the celebration itself will run through either start or end of summer 2016, which means there is a chance the decor and other 60th celebration stuff will still be running in late May/early June. Parades, fireworks, F!, WoC, and Mad T Party are usually nightly during that period. The crowds are probably fairly high on the weekends, but it's not yet quite peak summer crowds. The weather will probably be warm(ish).

October is great because of HalloweenTime, but the crowds can be high on the weekends. Given that Oct 1 is a Saturday, it's not clear to me when Gay Days will be (it usually happens the first weekend in October) and Columbus Day weekend usually has CHOC walk, so both of those weekends tend to be very busy in the park (like a peak summer weekend). HalloweenTime should be full swing, which means decor, attractions with overlays, and MHP (on select nights). Weather can be quite variable (I've been there went it was cool and when it was Hot). Weekday hours tend to shorter and normally fireworks, F! and Mad T Party are only presented on the weekends (Fri to Sun, not including MHP nights).

No Halloween Carnival this year (that is almost 100% certain) -- they're not blowing it out that much this time around! :lmao: But maybe in 2016...

you know, to be honest, I just want to go. I was super excited about the 60th stuff, but with the trip being postponed maybe a whole year, I just want to go!

DH doesn't like crowds or heat much. He'd prefer October, though I've tried to explain it can still get HOT in Oct and there's no real slow time. When we went in June 2013 it was pretty nice, sunny but cool enough that we weren't sweating.
The thing with Oct is that we'd go during DD's fall break which is typically the first full week of October. Unfortunately, idk if DS will have the same break. In October he will be in Kinder, but we don't know where yet. We will apply at the same private school as DD but there's no guarantee he will get in (he has some speech issues).
I guess he could miss a week of kindergarten right? :)

First part of June is typically not hot at all. In fact it can be down right cool with "June Gloom", especially in the mornings. Now there is always the freak heat wave that can hit that time of year but it can in October too.

I don't know if grad nights are a big deal to you, but they will be happening during the end of May beginning of June so it's something to consider.

I would LOVE to go in October but my kids don't get but a Fri and the following Mon (Columbus day) for a break so it is always a summer or Christmas trip and we like going to the beaches and stuff to so we go in the summer time...and having to r/s if it was me I would want to go as soon as I could :)
