My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to FL within the next 3 years or so. I am having a hard time motivating him to save money. I think I know what the problem is. The goal is just too far away for it to be realistic for him. We went to WDW in May of last year and he was socking the money away left and right. But we also had only been planning the trip for two months. I couldn't believe how much we saved in such a short time.
Sooo....to make it a more realistic goal I have put a countdown clock on the computer desktop. I have also hung a map of the east coast on the wall and every couple of weeks I trace a little more of our route down with a marker. The more we save each time the more of our route I fill in. But he doesn't seem interested in this. I'm getting very frustrated. I feel like we are never going to get there. I also have the change jar going.
Can anyone think of any ideas to make it more fun to save money? I feel like I am the only one making an effort here. Yesterday I asked him if he really wants to move. LOL. He insists he does.

Why not get a calendar or something with Florida pictures on it to display where he could see it often.
