Cabin. Two bathrooms are nice but the amount of room you have inside the cabins and outside the cabins to roam around is better imo. Aoa is good but it’s still a standard hotel room feel. The cabin feels like a home away from home. You’d want to get a golf cart at the cabins though. Plus you’d easily be able to put together a meal if you’d like to with the full kitchen in the cabins.

Two rooms at a value resort will likely be cheaper than AOA or cabins. You will have four real beds and two bathrooms.

Cabin:
If you. want to cook some meals e.g. eggs and bacon for breakfast and BBQ dinner on your own BBQ
if you prefer outdoor space/patio
if you like to relax and take your time at the resort
if you prefer a quiet atmosphere
if the MK is your primary park to visit
if the Skyliner isn't your thing, but you like a boat ride

AoA
if you like over the top, animated theming
if quick access/transportation to the parks is important
if you like the Skyliner
if your primary theme parks will be either Epcot or DHS
if you like a more lively, exciting atmosphere
if you want two bathrooms
if you only plan easy, light meals in the room e.g. coffee and toast for breakfast and food court for dinner

Perhaps most important of all (or would be to me):
Also look at the sleeping arrangements/surfaces to see if either configuration suits your group and the way they like to sleep better than the other.

Agree that you will likely want a golf cart for convenience at FW, so you need to factor that expense into the cost of accommodations.

We have a similar situation, with 5 adults plus a 17 year-old for our upcoming trip. We decided on 2 rooms at POR, because I wanted 2 bathrooms, and real beds for everyone. I did consider the family suite at AOA and Fort Wilderness Cabin, but wasn’t sure if the sleeping surfaces would be comfortable for everyone. I know my oldest son said the pull-outs at AS Music werent very comfortable when we stayed there years ago, so didn’t want to take a chance.

You might want to look at two rooms at Pop instead, that way every one would have their own bed.

I am not sure how big the sofa bed is at AoA, but if you have five adults, two of them would have to sleep on it. Might not be super comfortable.

I have stayed at both, and enjoyed both. It really just depends on what kind of stay you are looking for...Fort Wilderness is more like a camping trip, with lots more walking and switching transportation types...bus to bus, bus to boat etc.
AOA is a hotel feel. The couch bed does sleep two. I really love the new Skyliners.
In the end I would go back to either...just depends on the experience that I was looking for that trip.

I'd also consider a family suite at all star music, 2 rooms at a value or the Jr. Suite at Coronado

Just to speak to the AoA sleeper sofa: We utilize the couch at AoA and it is a queen and is actually far more comfortable than any typical pull out couch. The labeling states that it is created specifically for Disney. With that all said, it is still a pull out and not a traditional mattress, so has the quirks of the bar, etc. My first night on the pull out couch during our last trip was a little annoying to fall asleep, but every night after that I was zonked. I chalk up my first night to excitement at being back at WDW, plus the excitement of the kids around me. My wife is a vicious snorer and myself and the two kids sleep outside the AoA bedroom. We give it to her and close that door TIGHT.

Honestly, with 5 adults I would not choose either option. I would book 2 rooms at a value or a moderate. The sleep surfaces make a difference to me.

The bed in the Bedroom is now a Queen, it is not a full bed.
I would go with the Cabins. If the second bathroom is a concern, request a Cabin near a comfort station. They are clean and well kept and some could shower at the same time there.,

Theming at AOA is definitely better. You also get two bathrooms, access to the skyliner and one of the best food courts on property. However, 2 of the beds are doubles not queens. A cabin is going to have more room, but is very remote. Plan on spending more time traveling at FW.

Remember to factor in the cost of renting a golf cart if you stay at the Fort. I think it's kind of a necessity there, or at least a near-necessity.
