I am going round and round trying to decide. We are me, DH, will be 10 yr old DD and 7 yr old DS, March 2020. We are doing an 8 night split stay - we want to do the first half near Epcot, and the 2nd half at the Grand Floridian (I'm a huge sentimental GF fan and it's hard for me to stay anywhere else!)

We are thinking YC or BC due to Stormalong Bay, but then I read about how huge it is and having to follow your kids around. They are old enough that at most similar places, DH & I can relax and read while they entertain themselves. Will this work there? Can we get drinks at the pool? :) So that makes me consider Boardwalk instead.

Also Galaxy's Edge is a big reason for this trip so being as close as possible to HS would be great.

If we do decide on Stormalong Bay - YC or BC? I like the look & feel of BC better, but we really want a full balcony. Also need that 3rd fold down bed.

Would appreciate any thoughts!

I know when I was that age, my sister and I were wandering around the beach club pool no problem. But to each their own.

If your kids are strong swimmers and are used to wandering around similar places, you won't need to follow them around. Will they stick together at the pool? The only place at SAB where you need to be a little cautious is the "lazy river" part as it's quite deep, but there is a lifeguard stationed there. I wouldn't have let my 7-year old wander around that pool alone, but if he was tagging along with a responsible 10-year old, I may have let him.

BWI's pool is far safer, IMHO. You can sit on the pool deck and see your kids in every area of the pool including when they are going up the stairs to the slide and waiting for the slide.

They are all fabulous resorts, but it really comes down to priorities. If you want a full balcony, YC is really your only choice. I've always had full balconies at BC and BWI, but it's luck of the draw. At BWI you probably have a better shot at one than at BC. The day bed is also request only at all of those resorts, so that shouldn't be a deciding factor, just make sure to request it. BWI is technically the closest to DHS if you are walking. If you plan to take the boat, it's the first resort to get on and the last to get off, so that boat ride can be rather long. It's great to get a seat on the way there and you can also get off at Swan/Dolphin (first stop from DHS and walk to BWI from there). YC/BC has a much longer walk to DHS, but is the second resort stop both coming and going to DHS so a slightly shorter bus ride.

Sorry if I've confused you! For a family, I would recommend BC or BWI. YC is gorgeous but not very lively. If you are worried about the pool, go BWI and put in a request for "day bed" and "full balcony".
