Help me choose a digital camera

I'm want to buy a new camera. We have a really nice Fuji that takes great pictures, but it's not a point and shoot. There are so many times that I just wish I had a small camera to throw in my purse and take with me somewhere. I think I've narrowed it down to three and I'm curious to see if any DISers have any input on these cameras. I don't need anything real fancy. I just want something that will take great pictures, not be blurry, and record short videos.

I'm looking at either the Samsung L200, the Sony DSC-S980, or the Nikon L20.

Anyone have a review of one of these three??

I'm a huge fan of Nikons. I love the Coolpix line. I have the L12 now, but it's several years old. It's a great little camera. I've never been disappointed with any Nikon I've owned. :goodvibes

Just got a Nikon Coolpix last month, and love it!

I went with the Coolpix--the Nikon L20. It seems very nice, but every picture I take has a small red line right in the middle that runs about half way up the screen from the bottom. It's still on the pics when I download them. I'm thinking it's defective. I'm going to take it back to the store tomorrow and see what they think.

I have a Kodak M1033. I think you can get one for a little over 100.00 now. The zoom isn't the greatest but it is good. It is easy point and shoot picture taking with videos also. It has been my favorite camera ever because I have never seem to take a bad photo with it. Normally I end up deleting more than I should.

Good luck on your camera purchase!

I just got a Nikon Coolpix s550. Found it off of slickdeals.net for $99 from Best Buy.com. We had some BB gift cards lying around, so I figured I'd give it a shot. So far I really like it, definitely need to find a case tomorrow, but I'm happy with it. I like the sports feature that allows you to depress the button and it'll take consecutive pictures as the subject moves around.

I am also looking for a compact digital camera. I went to Best Buy today and was leaning towards a Nikon Coolpix camera but I am ready the reviews online on several of their cameras and am a little concerned because the reviews are negative. Not sure if I should ignore that or not. I was looking specifically at the Nikon Coolpix S260 (I like the large display screen and the touch screen). The reviews were bad on several models. Any input?? :confused3

My first camera was an Olympus and I now have another Olympus, LOVE them. I have the FE20, got it from Sam's for less than $100. Great little camera! :thumbsup2

look for the best picture in the high ISO ranges to get any chance at a low light shot. Otherwise almost all of them will take a decent picture.

DId you know there is a DIS Photo board with all kinds of experts?

Me, I have had the same camera for many years.... So I do not know much about what is new.
