We are renting a car however, my aunt is coming to visit us from 7/23 to 7/27. We were originally intending to pick her up from her Midwest flight around 10:30 pm. They have no CANCELLED that flight & she is now on a flight coming in at 6:05 pm right in the midst of RUSH HOUR on 7/23 (a Friday night).

She would like to just take a shuttle to the hotel to save us driving in an unfamiliar vehicle in the midst of bumper to bumper traffic.

As we have always driven before and are renting this time, shuttles have never been anything I have paid much attention to.

I promised I would ask what the most economical, reliable form of transport from MCO to the Swan (and possibly back) again is. I did suggest standing in the middle of MCO and yelling WHO IS GOING TO A DISNEY HOTEL, CAN I RIDE WITH YOU? and then us picking her up at that resort, but I think you guys might have better suggestions. :p :p :p

Or is there even one of the close resorts that has a flat rate shuttle of their own that she could pay and ride to that we could pick her up from? That sounds tacky I know but it might be worth a shot!

Or....what is the easiest quickiest way to get from the Swan to MCO in the midst of rush hour?

Sad to say, but this is a job for Mears! Either that or a City bus, which would take 2 hrs, but it would be cheap. But for one person, Mears really is the perfect solution here. Plus it should be less than $30.

I don't think traffic would be that bad if you take the S route to the airport.

Mears would work out OK. Probably be one of the first stops.

I think Mears would be the way to go. It has been a few years since I used them, but I did the shuttle when I visited DH when he was at the Dolphin at a convention. It was no problem and affordable. Very dependable. I don't remember if you need to make a reservation to GET to the Swan, but you do if you need to get a ride back to the airport.

Here is a link that explains the different transportation options as well as Mears web site and phone numbers...

Thanks - I'll email her that link.

Can you explain the S route to me? As I mentioned, I have never even been to MCO before!

Since you're not on I4 the traffic may not be as bad as you think.

Directions from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to the Swan and Dolphin Resorts:

Follow the signs for the South Exit from the airport to pick up SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. Once on SR417, you'll have 2 toll plazas for $1 each. After the 2nd toll, take exit 6 (SR 536/International Drive). Go straight through two sets of traffic lights (first intersection will be International Drive; second will be SR535) which will put you on SR536. Continue straight on this road and go straight through the next set of lights. You will pass the Marriott Orlando World Center on the right and the Holiday Inn Family Suites on the left, then I-4.

Just after I-4, you'll pass under the WDW welcome arch. After passing the under the WDW welcome arch, follow the signs for MGM/Epcot Resort area - it will be the 2nd exit after the arch. This will put you on Buena Vista Drive. Stay in the middle lane. Follow Buena Vista Drive straight. You will pass Caribbean Beach Resort on your left and the Boardwalk Resort on your right. Get over to the right hand lane as you pass the Boardwalk. Turn right at the next set of lights (Epcot Resorts Boulevard). The Swan will be the first street on the right. The Dolphin will down a little further on the right.

OK, I think I have been on the west end of this then several times. Thanks again. I think we might just go and pick her up instead of messing with the transport.
