Help making ticket decision

I'm trying to make my upcoming trip to Orlando as cheap as possible. I'm thinking about buying the 2 park power pass but then started thinking about parking, etc. It would probably benefit me to buy one Power Pass and one regular AP so that I can get the parking and other discounts, right? Also if I buy these passes the year starts when you actually go to the park and activate them, right? and if for some reason I don't get there this year will I still be able to use them next year?

The year starts when the AP is activated. If you're unsure, ask the ticket seller. They get questions like yours all the time and will be able to handle it with ease.
