Hi all!

I am right now at CBR until the morning of the 18th when we leave for a Disney cruise (followed by a week at the Contemporary).

Long story short- my little girls suitcase is lost. They are trying to track it down but may not get here by the time we sail.

Tomorrow I may need to go get some clothes for the cruise for her. Can you tell me the closest target, walmart or other cheaper clothing store near me? I'm taking a taxi ...

thank you!!!

There's a Wal-Mart in Kissimmee. It's not far (10 minutes?) from WDW. I don't know exact street names. Good luck! That's awful about the suitcase.

Thats a terrible situation! I'm so sorry!
If you go out to 192 (I'm sure you go right to 192 after passing through the arches... someone please correct me on this) there is a Target, and if you keep going down 192 to 27 there is a Walmart, its like right there when you get off 27.

I'm not sure if there is anything closer so I'll leave that up to another poster who may have more knowledge, of the area.

I did some googling and I found this Walmart which is even closer, just mapquest it from the address of your hotel.
Wal-Mart Supercenter Store #5420

Wal-Mart and Target are great ideas, there is also an Old Navy Outlet nearby which has inexpensive clothing. It's apart of an outlet mall, so there are other stores as well.

It's on 535 (very close to Wal-Mart) and called The Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores. There are additional outlets in the area, but they are much more pricey.

Here's the website: http://www.lbvfs.com/Orlando-Outlet-Directions.cfm

There is a super Target nearby. I googled it. Here is the address: 4795 W Irlo Bronson Meml Hwy, Kissimmee

Good luck finding your daughter some clothes!!!! That stinks!

Thanks everyone!

This is all very helpful. Luckily I didnt have any concrete plans tomorrow...looks like we're going shopping unless things change in the morning..

If you have trip insurance it probably covers lost luggage with some sort of clothing allowance, you may have coverage through a credit card if you used one to book your travel.

My friend lost luggage before a cruise not too long ago and his trip insurance covered quite a bit of clothing purchases for each day his bag was missing. He got it back in time for the cruise but it had been to London and back even though we had a direct flight from NC to Miami.

receipts. The airline is most likely required to reimburse you for the clothes that you have to buy.

I had this happen a couple of trips ago and sent to bill to the airline for the clothes I bought.

(Actually, the lady with whom my luggage was mixed up held my suitcase until she got her own back. Good thing thing I wasn't as thoughtless or neither of us would have gotten our luggage back.)

This is a PSA for future cruisers/travelers:

When you pack your suitcases, you should crosspack. This means that each suitcase should have clothes for every member of your party. This way if one suitcase is lost you all have clothes in other suitcases.

Hopefully they find the suitcase. We had this happen years ago when we sailed the Big Red Boat. The airline lost our garment bag. The bag was delivered to us at the first port which was Nassau.

:rotfl2: I'm not mocking you, I'm just picturing my teenage son opening his suitcase and finding moms underware in it.

.

I totally agree! Maybe not underwear :lmao: but at least one or two changes of clothes. We each also try to fit an outfit/swimsuit in our carry on. So far we've never had this happen... *knock on wood*

Good luck finding your little girl some clothes; Target will work I should think. princess: Brush this off and enjoy your vacation! :goodvibes

OMGoodness! We tried crosspacking once and that was before the airline began charging customers for their checkin luggages. My hubby had my flat iron and some shorts in his checkin. I had the garment bag as my checkin luggage. Guess what? TSA tagged his bag and random searched the bag. We didn't know about it until we unpacked the suitcase and found this piece of paper acknowledging the search. The paper claimed that TSA had the authority to confiscate any item deem dangerous.:confused3
Thank goodness that my flat iron escaped this fate.

This is a great idea, thanks.

A great tip I got from these boards, is to "lock" your luggage with zip ties and pack extra ones in the suitcase...some people that inspect your luggage will actually put a new zip tie back on it for you.

We always do the crosspacking if we cruise, even if we drive to the port in case it gets lost there. Each person puts 2 days clothes, swimsuits, and casual/formal outfit in each suitcase. I repack once the bags are in our cabin.
If you do not have the suitcase at boarding, you should be able to notify the airline to deliver it to the cruise port. I know of people who finally get their luggage at the first or second port.
I wonder if you would do better to rent a car for the day to do your shopping instead of being rushed with a taxi. You can pick up National/Alamo rentals at the Swan/Dolphin.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.

WOW, that is really one of the most inconsiderate things I have ever heard. Especially considering that you probably now know who she is since you had her stuff. I am certainly not know as nonconfrontational ;) and I would have let her know what I think of her. If I had known about her actions while it was happening, I would have also gotten the police involved because her holding your stuff for ransom is essentially theft.

That's actually a really good idea! We usually pack per family member (I share with DD, though) but I really like this idea. tfs!
