Help! Lightsaber help.

DH bought DD a lightSaber that doesn't retract and doesn't fit in any suitcases. Besides going back in time and reminding DH not to shop without me, is there anything I can do to get this thing home?

I would suggest getting it wrapped and then checking it at the airport. They might let you carry it on but that's not a for sure.

Another option would be to courier it home. If you are staying at a convention resort they can help with that.

FedEx might be able to help as well, my employer ships lots of oddly-shaped items that way. The good old post office too. Have you tried asking whoever helps ship packages home from your hotel for help? They might have ideas too.

Have it shipped home if you are unable to get into a luggage. I'm pretty sure any resort gift shop can assist with that. We were able to get our DS's light saber to fit diagonally in our biggest checked luggage. I packed extra clothes around it for cushioning. It was a tight fit but it made it home just fine. From what I saw at the airport you will not be allowed to carry it on the plane. We saw security was taking one the day we flew home.

In an interesting twist, DD left the lightsaber on PotC. While DH was waitin to talk to someone about retrieving it, I had the realization that if we had just waited a few hours to report it missing, lost and found may have just shipped it to our house. Instead we got a ticket to get a new one, and DH paid to have it shipped home.

We got a fast pass out of the deal, though! A problem became an opportunity. either that or you could say we paid 8 bucks for a fast pass.

My son did the Same thing for our grandson. He does not fly often and things have really changed with the TSA. We had to go to the business center at the beach-yacht club and they shipped it home but it was not cheap ($17). It arrived a few days after we got home. I think he also could have gone back to DHS and ship it from the store there but he did go that route. Grandson loves the the light saber.
