OOPs! Had you mixed up with another mom who was on her third child. Even if you don't have two, one will keep you going. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 I do already have two boys... but they are 3 and 7 so they are able to entertain themselves while I get a lil R&R. I am just sick of this no sleep at night deal ---- Just took a tub in the dar with onlythe close light on to see if that helps... not yet although I am feeling a lil sleepy!!

You would think that I have never been through the ninth month of sleeplessness before - but I have - twice!!! I just dont rememebr it being this bad!!?? :confused3

We are expecting baby boy #3 here and had a time and a half coming up with names! We are out of boy names now. LOL Our first was easy. Our second we got the first name quickly but I defered the middle name choice to DH because I had insisted on using my Dad's first name as a middle name for our oldest so I figured I'd give DH the opportunity to pick one for DS #2 in case he wanted to use a family name too. He debated about it but wasn't sure. I ended up saying that I liked Grant for a middle name. DH was sort of "eeehhhh" on that. I said fine, he could have till the hospital insisted on having the birth certificate to decide but if he couldn't, I was using Grant. The day we were to go home a person called from hospital admin and told us that the only thing holding up our discharge was that they needed the birth certificate. Not wanting to fool with the paperwork of amending it later with a name, I looked at DH and said "now or never, buddy. What do you want?" End result....DS #2s middle name is Grant. ;)

When we found out this one was another boy the big reaction was "oh no....what are we going to name him????" I have a list I like and DH has one he likes but we don't agree. This one has a first name finally (Aidan) but no middle name yet. DH does not want his father's name (James). We have said that Christopher or Matthew would do as a middle name. DH isn't wild about Matthew and I am hesitant to use Christopher b/c we have a good friend with that name but we don't want it to look like we named the baby after him (he's not THAT good a friend!). We have 6 weeks left so this one will come down to the wire for us too.

For your name chocies...I like them both but I would pick Gabriel as well. :) One of the reasons for me would be because he'd be prone to the nickname CJ if you used Callum and I am not overly fond of initial nicknames...but that's just me. That would be a "pro" for the name Callum to lots of people! :)

Aidan Matthew is very nice! Callum is different I hear Gabriel alot now! I vote for callum too! My niece is due 3 days after you! She is having a girl she is supposedly naming her Tayler Rose

This reminds me of the 9th month of my first pregnancy. I was an older mom to begin with (37), working full time and then some because we'd just had a round of layoffs, and not sleeping well. One morning the alarm went off and I felt as if I hadn't slept at all. I wanted to cry, and whined to DH, "I just wish this baby would get here already so I can finally get some sleep!" And then I DID cry, because I knew that wasn't gonna happen. :rotfl2:

I completely sympathize with this post!! I was at this point last night before the tub in the dark, and I am NOT a cryer!!! I was tossing and turning, not able to get comfortable and i was SO fed up with the whole thing... I just wanted to break down and sobb!! I havn'e gotten there yet, but I thinkit will be soon. :guilty:

Ya know... On my 2nd pregnancy, I had had some complications, but weathered through them. Just a few days before my scheduled c-section, my doc thought I looked very swollen and uncomfortable, and of course I hadn't been sleeping well. She said, "I know you're like me, and you want to work up through to the end, but I just don't think that's a good idea. I'd really like to see you have several days' rest before we do the delivery."

I was stunned, thrilled, guilty, and worried about that pile of work on my desk. Of course, everyone at work took on some extra tasks, so no big deal there (I would have been on maternity leave in 3 more workdays anyway.)

It was so nice to have a few days rest, and a little voice in my head said, "See? Now what if you'd mentioned to the doc earlier about how tired you were?" I was soooo tired, but also determined to stick it out. WHY, for pete's sake???

So please tell your doctor at your next visit about how tired you are, and how you aren't sleeping. I wish I had, because I think she wanted to put me on leave earlier but thought I'd object. I was just thinking, "Well, if I should be on leave, she'd tell me!"

;) I know! I can very much hear what you are saying in this post ... I think about all the work that I can be doing and what I will miss and what will have to be done while I am out. Especially this time of year... timing is everything! I say that because I work as the Assistant to the Program Director for the local school distrcit's Afterschool Program. This is the bussiest time if the year for us with 3 elemnatry schools starting up and programs rolling on Monday for the first time this year and the MIddle school next week. I have to get kids thathave registered in the computer, activities situated and billing under control before I pop!! :guilty: I am a control freak I think and just want everything in line so that I can relax when all is said and done. Thanks goodness some of this can be done from home on my laptop.

I very much want to relax for a few days before I go into labor. I am going to try my damndest to get done this week so that I can. Both boys were born on their due dates, so maybe I am just so organized my body goes into labor when I have mentally preraed for it... who know. Mother Nature is a very weird thing! It will happen when all is ready to go! I have an actual exam Monday; so we will see what the outcome is then!! Hurry up and wait!!

I did sleep pretty well last night so that is a plus! Even with DS3 following me into the guest room, where I thought I was safe!!?? :rolleyes1

I don't know if you made your decision but it could change. I like Gabriel James but that's just because I like the name better.

I'm certainly NOT the person to ask...our first was going to be Heather Renee until she was born...guess not. She is Carolyn Marie. :rotfl:

Baby #2 didn't have a name for at least a day after he was born.

Baby #3 Kyle was picked out...but I wasn't 100% it would stick (considering our track record), we came up with his middle name literally the day before I delivered.

Baby #4 He had no name for 2 days. We did finally name him before we left the hospital....he got his middle name by default. His was born near Columbus day & so his middle name ended up being Christopher. Only took us 2 days to come up with that combination. Actually, more like OK...if you aren't going to give me an opinion (to my DH) then that's what he's going to be named.

I think Gabriel James is a strong, masculine name. My friend has this pre-requisite for all of her children's names. She starts out with "Supreme Court Justice ___________".
Gabriel James sounds professional, and nice for a little boy and an adult man. Callum sounds more trendy and little boy-ish (IMO).

Kinda along those same lines, my husband had to test each boys name as if it were being called over the pa system at a football game "Tackle made by number 82, Dominic (last name)" we too had to have a masculine name :teeth:

I vote for Gabriel because if Dominic had been a girl he'd of been Gabrielle.

I can totally relate to this one - I will be sure to pass this along to Dear Husband.. He is deep into football season right now and just having gone to his first Patriots game last weekend, he is hot to trott! This may solve our problems after all! LOL

I love both Gabriel and Callum, but because I like Cal much more than Gabe and because (in the US, anyway) Gabriel is much more common than Callum, my vote goes to Callum. :)

I think we may just have to wait to see the little bugger when he arrives!!??

As a PP noted - Callum is a great Irish/Scottish name. Actually it is one of the top baby names in Whales and Ireland/Scotland in recent years... Funny thing is that it is not in many US baby books or websites.... Also I dont believe that there are any other Callum's in our Town or School District (yet). I think my midwife said she know of one othet but he is way older.

Gabriel "Gabe" is a strong name which I/We also like. And not many in our area... A few but they are 7, 8 , 9 10 years old at this point.

Many Previous Posters had asked what our first two sons are - and why:

DS7 : (Walter) Henry (IV) - A Scottish/Irish name - as is our last name... Also a family name that we(I) did not have much of a say on especially with all being alive, DH's grandfather who knew he was dying, and really wanted to see yet another name sake--- but now in hind sight - I cant see Henry as anything else - AND he is the only Henry is the entire school dictrict, so its great! Let alone a Henry the 4th...

This basis lead us to uniquely, but not weirdly, name our...

DS3 : Brayden "Brady" Owen... DH really liked the name "brady"... just brady - but as a PP mentioned - incase he were to be an Honorbale Judge, world renowned lawyer, or President, we had to lengthen it a bit. So he became Brayden Owen, but is usually just called Brady. All this -Not to mention that the New England Patriots were a top the NFL Dynasty at the time of delievery. And being die hard football fans, My Dad since the time of the Boston Patrtiots, and born and bread and in New England, we heard the name quite frequently and thought it had a ring to it. But Now - its a very popular name and there have been a few in the area.... But he is the lead and only "Brady"... Also Irsh/Scottish

So thats our life history on name our children.... Gabe is a great name, unique and strong, yet not weird. Familiar and Uncommon but not super common. ..... Callum (also can be spelled Calum and Callem in the baby books) fits our Irish/Scottish streak. Its different, but not weird. I cant see that name being super common all of a sudden... We would never call him CJ and we already have a DJ in the fam and its not my style. :smooth:

DS7 has kids in his clas that are know as Ben R and Ben T and Devin R and Devin C, and my niece even is referred to in her preschool as Big Natalie and little Natalie... I like that my kids (and myself) are known by our first names and first name only.

princess: Also - Just in case HE turns out to be a HER princess: come delivery day - we have a girls name picked out as well: Caroline Elizabeth. The boys had picke dthat out, being fans of Neil Diamond and also from Fever Pitch, the song was very fitting. AND only 2 others in our entire School District (so far - I know as I work for the School District and see every name across my desk throughout each school year :surfweb: Also my mom ands sister are teachers here as well..... )

DH says that I am anal-retentive and obsessed, I just think that naming a child is a big task to take on and want to put plenty of thought into it!

Thanks so much for reading our life story - I hope that it will put some perspective on things and spark some conversation -- I look forward to seeeing the responces and votes! BELIEVE ME! I read every post and take it all into consideration!

I will take any help/advise I can get! Keep it coming!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Given your other 2 boys names I think Callum sounds better with those 2 then Gabriel but just my opinion! Have fun and keep us posted! My niece is due around the same time and I think she is going to name her daughter TAYLER ROSE using the less common way to spell it unless she changes her mind! Very common here is TAYLOR and I looked on the baby websites and Taylor spelled Taylor is ranked like 968 and Tayler spelled with the E is obly like 426! I think it looks more feminine with the E ! She liked it that way alot now she's starting to change her mind so we'll see when she is born! Good Luck!

On 1st glance, "Callum" looked like "callous" (spelling?) to me...and all I could think of is the callouses that people get on their feet. :crazy2:

I vote for Gabriel.

If James is the middle name I wouldn't go with either of those.....

How about...Darren James? i like it!!!!

Well, seeing that I am one of 5 girls and my first son being the first boy on my side of the family in a whopping 56 years, i think it is only fitting to name our last son after my dad - his name is James. I will probably be the last of his daughters for a while to have kids and my oldest sister is done having babies - she has 2 DDs and one DS (named after his dad) and my other 3 sisters arent in any rush to get married and or start a family, so I wil be using my dad's name... Thats why we chose James. Now to decide on the fisrt name...

I like Callum or Calum because its unique but not weird, also fit in with the Scottish/Irish names of our first 2 sons - Henry and Brady/Brayden....

....and I like Gabe (Gabriel) because it's a great name and I like the way it sounds...

I honestly don't know what we will do or what we will choose - only time will tell. I am/was 1 cm dialated at my last appt last Monday - I go again today at 11AM - we will see if there is any progress... I am uncomfortabel and not sleeping for beans, so we will see just how much longer I have to go...

Both boys were bron EXACTLY on their anticipated due dates, so we will see if I can beat the odds one more time and go on the 1st or maybe sooner (better sooner than later!)

 PS I just ate a banana... We'll see if it helps with those leg cramps - seems to be better this week, I have been trying to eat a banana every day or so - but I have issues eacting bananas with those nasty brown spots - only fresh Banana's for this monkey!

Ok - so I have only 7 days or so to go and still are not 100% sure what we will name our baby boy when he arrives.... I am losing sleep over and guess we will just have to wait and see who arrives at the hospital - how many folks had to wait to see their baby before they were certain on a name?

We were sure of teh names we had pickedout when we had DS#1 and DS#2, but this time we are stumped!!?? :confused3

My first DD we had a name picked months before she was born. my second DD, we had a boys name picked....... not a single girls name(I have no idea why, and its not like I was hoping for a boy or was told I would have a boy :confused3 )
But, after she was born, I told my DH that I was naming her Amanda. I wanted to call her Mandy. Now this was not a name that was EVER brought up in our name discussions. Its kinda weird, but she just looked like a Mandy to me.

What about letting your other sons decide unless of course they each pick a different one. Let them say it out loud and see which one they like better. It's worth a shot. You could always flip a coin. :rotfl2: Only Kidding! COuld you imagine 8 years later when Gabriel or Callum says, "Hey mom, how did I get my name?" If you do the coin thing, you've got to keep the coin. Again- just kidding. Good luck!

Well, its official. We now have a new bouncing baby boy here at home -Gabriel James. He was Born on his DUE DATE of October 2nd. He weighed in at 8 1/3 lbs and 21" long... :cloud9: We are home now - happy and healthy for the most part, now discovering that Gabe may have a touch of Jaundice.... Thanks so much for all the input on this thread originally. Even though we came close to naming him Baby Callum, we went with our instincts and knew he was Gabe once he arrived! Funny how that works... And we have the boys the last say in the deal. Thanks again and Happy Posting! :surfweb:
