SOmeone previously posted to start with "Chief Justice ..." I was told when deciding on a name for my boys to yell it out like they just did something bad. If you can stand saying it and feel it sounds good then it works. I did it in the bathroom so a neighbor wouldn't think I was crazy. Also I also think about finding things that are personalized. It's easier to find Gabriel and people are more likely to remember his name. Both are nice, but Gabriel would be my choice. Good Luck! Look at him first, then decide. When we looked at our first son, we knew he was a Max not a Maxwell or Maximino. Just Max. He still looks like one today. ;)

Thanks! I will have to try that one!! I have read that responce a lot - there must be some truth to it ...... :rolleyes1

Looks like Gabriel has taken a strong lead in the "polls"... I wonder what the weeks end will bring? :surfweb:

I like Cal much better than Gabe. :thumbsup2

My mom always said I was different than everyone else. :)

I like them both! How's that for riding the fence! Mainly I just wanted to say Good Luck and Congratulations!

Callum James - gets my vote! I like the fact that it is an unique name - Gabriel has become a more popular name and also, I like the fact that all 3 of your DSs would be named with an Irish/Scotish name.

Have you asked your other 2 DSs what they think? Or which is easier for them to pronounce or if they will have a nickname based on either name?

That's kind of how we came up with our DDs name... we had 2 to pick from and chose her name because my DS kept saying that one and it was easier for him to say at 4 years old. However, it is a "unisex" name since I really didn't believe we were having a girl  BTW, her middle name comes from my late mother's first name and my middle name combined.

Our DS6 has the same first name as my DH, my dad, FIL, GrandFIL... a family name. However, we picked his middle name from various sports stars and we use his middle name - talk about confusing in school. That was our one concern!

Ok, enough about me!! Good Luck and congrats!!!

My opinion would be take the poll and see which name LESS people like and go with that....it'll be more original and baby won't go to school with 12 of them :thumbsup2

Sounds a lot like my family as you can tell from my PP's! I will sit the boys down this week and and have a little conversation with them. DH and I have asked them to say each name throughout this whole baby-naming process... Its just such a big descision! Aarrgh! Time will tell ... Thanks for your input!

I simply wont vote... I think that baby gets more say than me!

Let us know what you decide.

Congrats on your new baby. What an exciting time. I work on a Maternity Ward and alot of parents come in with 2-3 names and wait till the baby is born and then name them. Sometimes they have a name picked and the baby arrives and they just don't think the name fits so they change it. I voted for Gabe though. I just like the name better. Good luck!!!!

I have always loved the movie Gone With The Wind and I was actually named after Melanie in that movie. THe first time I watched it I fell in love with the name Scarlett and I decided that if I ever had a daughter that I was going to name her Scarlett. Well about the time I got pregnant the first time I was still convinced that I was going to name my daughter that but I got to rhyming the name in my head and all I could hear was Scarlett the Harlotte (sp) and I could not see burdening my child with that. As you can tell I went to school with a bunch of mean people. So I decided to name her after my father and brother. They are both name Michael so she became Michaela. It is like Mikayla. And since I got to name the first child my DH got to name the second child who also turned out to be a girl and he decided to name her after everybody in the family it seems like. She is named Cathryn after my mother who is named Cathy her middle name is LeeAnn. My Dh's middle name is Lee and his mother's name is Ann. However my oldest daughter could not say LeeAnn or sister the closest she could come was Sissy so my youngest has been know as Sissy since we found out she was a girl and told Michaela she was going to have a sister. The only time she is called LeeAnn is in school. Sorry to get so far off topic. I voted for Gabe.

I think Gabriel James is a strong, masculine name. My friend has this pre-requisite for all of her children's names. She starts out with "Supreme Court Justice ___________".
Gabriel James sounds professional, and nice for a little boy and an adult man. Callum sounds more trendy and little boy-ish (IMO).

I use a similar system. Only I say "The President of the United States, _______________"

My stepson was named after Thomas the Tank Engine. My husband his ex wife could not decide and left it up to their three year old daughter. They presented her with the top two choices and she promptly picked Thomas, after her favorite tank engine! :rotfl:

I personally LOVE the name Callum. It's different and very unique. Perhaps the fact that I worked with a "Gabe" that I found obnoxious and overbearing may have something to do with that as well though. ;)

They are both good strong names and your little one will bear either one proudly!

congrats!!! :goodvibes

I picked out my 7 year old's name, on the day he was born, while I was in labor. So, you still have plenty of time!

Perhaps you can wait until you hold your baby, and go with what feels right.

:wizard: I am so impressed by all of the responces you all gave me/us! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I am not sure as though we were swayed in anyway by the results of the poll, however there were great stories that were contributed to help us put things into perspective and to give us things to think about. :thumbsup2

:rolleyes1 Even though the polls are closed, please feel free to cast your vote and/or add any baby-naming stories you you would like to share!

Well, I found out today that the baby has dropped and everything is settling into place! So its just a matter of time.... 10/1 can't get here any sooner; but I am going to try to enjoy my last 3 weeks of pregnancy as much as possible! :cloud9:

Thanks again! :thanks:

Good Luck! I voted for Gabriel. By the way, what rest? Isn't this your third child? I never could rest during my last weeks or after the birth. I will finally get to sit down in 16 years when my baby is off to college. :cool1: :cool1:
