my DD 6 started running a fever during the night! She is not complaining of anything else so I am hoping it is just one of those summer viruses. If she ends up having to see the ship Dr. and has something contagious like strep, what will happen? Will she be quarantined? I am freaking out!

i'm so sorry to hear this...
as for the doctor....i really don't know...
but since she's not complaining about anything else, like sore throat/pain in her ears, maybe it's just a virus....
i guess you're going on the 7 day cruise, so i'm sure she'll be better in time to at least enjoy some of the activities...

if you are on the 7 day cruise, then you would be able to see a doctor today when you reach orlando....yes?...
if you're staying on property at disney, you can ask the front desk to call a doctor for you who will come to your room...
or else you can go to that walk in place that's right near WDW....i think it's called centra care or something like that..
when my daughter was sick, a doctor made a 'house call' to our room (i think we were at the yacht club that time).....he was an excellent physician....i was quite impressed....

so if you do have a half day in orlando, perhaps you could do that......if the doctor suspects ear or throat, he/she would be able to prescribe antibiotics before you get on board...and if it's just a virus, you'll know before you get on the ship...

Pixie Dust being sent that your DD starts feeling better - for everyone's sake!!! Bring out that Motrin!!!

Do you have a good pediatrician? If so you could try calling and explain what's going on and that there is no time for an appointment. They might give you a script for antiobotics that you can get filled before boarding tomorrow and that way if it gets worse you have a head start. That way it might minimize the duration of the illness on board. This happens almost everytime we go on vacation and we have done this a couple of times. We have an awesome dr. and she trusts my judgement for when it's time to start antibiotics. Some doctors won't even think about doing it and it's understandable why, but it wouldn't hurt to call and just see. Hope this helps:firefight

I'm sure you know how to look for strep, but if not. Take a flashlight and look in her mouth. Sometimes you will see small very red dots in the back of their mouth. Let your Dr know what you see. Pixie Dust to all of you.princess:

If you are going on the 7 day and arriving in Orlando early, we do have good walk in clinics in the area. (I live about 40 minutes from the port.) If you can call your dr. this morning, do so. We had a 2 week CA vacation planned and my 12 year old woke up swollen and red...an allergic reaction. I called my dr and they saw him immediately...on our way to the airport. They gave him meds, he slept all the way there, and we had a great vacation! The same to you!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with you! If you need a dr...or want to know where to find one when you get to Orlando, feel free to contact me.
God Bless!

sending lots of pixie dust...my children always seem to do this. We went to England in February, and I asked my dr for an antibiotic before we went *just in case*...b/c of my daughter's severe asthma and low immunity she gave me one. Hopefully yours will call something in for you.
