I found out that I have to start eating gluten free. My trip is in 209 days and my ADR reservation window opens on 4/19. We are on the dinning plan but I don't know what to tell the CM when I made my ADRs:confused3.

Our party consists of me (25) and my parents. I'm the only person who has to eat gluten free.

Any advice on eating gluten free around the world would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure about notifying the CM when doing ADRs (couldn't hurt) but you will want to call the restaurant directly about 72hrs out. This gives the chef time to accommodate your dietary needs. When you are seated at the restaurant, let the server know and the chef should come out to the table and discuss your options.

Hope this helps!

I almost forgot, they also carry some gluten free snacks in the food courts in the hotels. The caramel corn is really good, I've also seen jelly beans and brownies, they probably have even more.

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum and look at Post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs. There is a large section in that post dealing with special dietary needs, as well as many related links. You can get directly to the disABILITIES FAQs by following the link in my signature.

This is a very common topic of discussion in the disABILITIES Forum.

Yes, definitely contact the Special Diets folks at WDW (email address is on the DISabilities board). That way, you can just complete one form with all your information, and list your ADRs and they will contact each of the restaurants and add those details to your file.

I did this last year, and a few of the restaurants actually called me to give me more details about what they could offer that was gluten-free, and at each TS restaurant, the chef came out and told me about menu items that were GF or offered to modify, or make new dishes for me. It was great, and WDW really does an exceptional job in handling various allergies and special diets.

The only reason we pack any food at all is because we like to have a quick breakfast in our room before heading to the parks. We don't pack any snacks to carry around with us or to supplement our diets. WDW really is the best place in the world to vacation when you have a special diet. There are just so many options for what you can safely eat.

As soon as you've got your ADRs booked, contact Special Diets (see contact info in stickies on this board). They will send you a form to fill out where you'll list your dietary restrictions (in your case gluten free) and all of your ADRs and what resort you're staying at. SD will notify every one of these restaurants that you need to be gluten free. Many of the restaurants will call you to discuss your needs but even the ones who don't will be able to easily handle your dietary needs.

SD will also send you an email with a bunch of attachments. Read through these attachments. They contain lists of what products that they carry are gluten free as well as where you can find them. We make a point to stick with CS locations on the list of places that are best equipped to handle food allergies (something else that's in the attachments).
