Help!!!Just Decided to do a quick trip in 3 weeks

My ds17 is looking at going to college in FL so we will be driving down to Orlando for and be there for 4 nights...2 of the days he will be in interview as well as an open house we should be done by the early afternoon both days. We are planning on just doing one day at MK then the other afternoons/evening visiting resorts and DTD.

We go to Disney ever year or every other year and have a huge trip planned for next June for my sons graduation present! Since this trip was just decided a few weeks ago I have had no time to save a lot of extra $$ that's why just the one day at MK.

Here is the question and why I need help when we were there last April they hadn't introduced FP+ yet...so I'm clueless...I'm buying tickets Tues. will I have a hard time getting FP for Mine train and BTM Splash etc. We are planning on getting there at RD..any tips on FP+ would be great, any tips on extreme heat too we are from the coast of NC so we know humidity but we usually go to WDW in March or April! Plus any other ideas for some other other afternoon evenings!

Our trip is about 6 weeks away and there are still many fp+ for mine train, BTM and Splash M.

It is hot - bring hats, sunglasses and water. We bring spritzer fans. We fill them with water and hang them around some of our necks. it is great.

I would definitely recommend eating lunch at Be Our Guest restaurant if you never have before. Be sure to bring umbrellas along as well because Florida weather is really unpredictable. As far as FP+ goes I would say get whatever FP's you want (that are still available) on the My Disney Experience app or website. When you're at MK they allow you one extra FP per person after your previously chosen three are used up. Have fun at Disney!! (Also, sorry if this isn't exactly what you were looking for, or if it doesn't make sense. This is my first post on here!)

We ate at Be Our Guest last trip and it was really good...I'm playing it by ear on restaurants at MK we have a lot of favorites so that won't be hard just doing quick service.

Really hoping the fp+ choices will be good...I cant wait to start looking on Tues.( wont have all the $ til then) otherwise would have already started.
I'm really not comfortable with this new FP+ I guess I don't like change!

Going through DW you can book FPs before you pay. We did. We still haven't paid the balance yet. But maybe you are too close to your date.
