Help! Just bumped from Poly concierge!

Our dates are Oct. 6-9. I called today and went with BWI concierge. I did ask if we could be upgraded to the Deluxe Concierge room, but she said none were available. When she found out we were celebrating two birthdays and one was for my DD, she said she might just send something to our room!! She was very helpful and probably happy that I was not upset at all...I think she'd been dealing with some very unhappy people. Wherever we stay, we'll still be at Disney and now we get a chance to stay at a resort we might never have chosen on our own. Thanks again for everyone's info...you guys are the greatest!

We switched to the Boardwalk, also. So far I've found the concierge planners to be very friendly.

I was bummed at first, but Dh is happy to be going to the BWI (his first choice anyway). I did consider moving to a Lagoon view room at Poly, but it would not have changed our price as we had a GVC reserved.

2tinksmom You will not be disappointed in your choice. The IPO cast are so great to work with. I have mainly dealt with Alana and she is awesome. Please mention the birthdays you are celebrating. You can aslo mention it at checkin too. I know some people have waited in line down at regular check in and then had a CM bring them right up to the 4th floor. I would let bell services know when you arrive you are Concierge guests, they will bring you right up to the 4th floor. Have a wonderful trip.

Just FYI: Sugar Loaf Concierge at the Grand Floridian is now full service concierge as of July 2005. they are now serving alcohol and the cordials/desserts at night. for those being bumped from the Poly, you could do SL at the GF and still have full service and the monorail. Happy Planning and have fun on your trips!

KerryCM: thanks for the assurance...I haven't talked to the concierge staff at the BW yet. It's on my list of things to do today! :teeth:

triplefigs: we were not even given the choice of the GF because they were full...I would have liked to still be on the monorail.

momtofebgirls: glad to hear you're happy with the concierge staff, I can't wait to call. Well, I'll have to since they probably wouldn't answer this early! :earboy2: What dates are you planning on being there?

We will be there Sept 25-30. They have already made all of my ADRs. I have made some changes already and they've been very friendly :)

Aloha joliesmom,

Here was my report from when I just got back from both concierges back in 2002. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=230951

I will say that the AKL concierge was different but well worth the money. The staff was helpful and friendly before we even arrived and the lounge was nice with great offerings. We had a one bedroom suite so the walk to the lounge was long and there is not much of a view from the lounge like at the Polynesian but the lounge was very comfortable. I don’t see the concierge rooms at the AKL as having the preferred location like the Polynesian rooms do but some of the rooms were on the same floor as the lounge and the floor can only be accessed with a concierge room key. If I go back to the AKL I would do concierge again.
Thank you Steve! I like AKL but was nervous about concierge. The pre-planning has not been that great. After reading your report I now understand why if they are being over utilized.

I am glad the report helped. Also keep in mind that report was from 2002. I mostly read good reports about AKL concierge. Every concierge gets some bad reports but I don’t think you are risking a bad experience by doing ALK concierge. I think you will enjoy it.

Aloha

Steve

That's good to hear. I'm dreading getting that call (Poly GVC 10/14-23) and although I wouldn't miss the alcohol I would really miss the desserts. :teeth: Still hoping for a new room at Poly. :Pinkbounc
