Help, I've got myself worried

Our points have a March use year. I have a trip booked for June, booked at the 11 month window (so using this year's points but in next year if you see what I mean) This left a few points from this use year which the CM asked if I wanted to bank into next year. I did bank them.

This morning I woke up in a panic. What about the points for the June trip? Have they been automatically set aside ready for the trip? In other words "banked for use in June". Or should I have banked these as well so they will be there in June?

I can't get my head round this and have worked myself up into a real state in case I have lost the points.

Can someone please help. Am I worrying about nothing or have I got a real problem?

You have already used those points for the June trip. You can't bank them unless you cancel the trip.

Are you saying that you banked some points from your 2004 Use Year (3/04 to 2/05) into 2005, and that you want to make sure they are all used up in the trip you have scheduled for June '05?

If so, call MS and ask them the status of your account. Assuming you won't be back again before Feb '06, you'll definitely want to make sure that all of the banked points are used in your June reservation, and that all of your remaining unused points are from '05 UY. If MS doesn't have the points allocated in that manner right now, ask them to reallocate. Just make sure that you agree with the accounting details they provide before you hang up the phone.

I think the OP was confused about where the points for June came from. If they came from 2005 use year for a ressie in June of 2006, then they have already been banked once. If there were any left over, perhaps they are points from 2006 that could be banked ahead. I always thought you couldn't bank them until you had them though.
The term "this years points but in the next year" was what has me confused.

When you make reservations the points are allocated for that reservation they are not "banked". When your use year starts in March you can bank your points not before then. I for example have made reservations with my points that have a use year beginning in April. After maiking these reservations I still have 21 points left over so when April 1 comes around I will bank them for my reservations using my points that have a use year of April 2006. That will give me 21 more points along with my original purchase to use for reservations the following year.

Call MS to confirm. Make sure they tell you that all of your 2004 banked points have been used for the reservation, and the only thing you have remaining are 2005 points.

If this is not the case, they should be able to reallocate the banked points to the June reservation without you having to re-book, lose points, etc.

March 2004 you got XXX points to use by Feb. 28, 2005

In July 2004, you called and made a reservation for June 2005.

Unless you specifically told them to bank your 2004 points and use them for the June 2005 trip, then they didn't do that. They used your March 2005-Feb 2006 points to make the reservation.

Now, before you panic, you may have done that and have since forgotten. Call MS and see what their records show.

Whenever you bank points you are given a banking transaction number -- write that down and keep it somewhere that you can reference if necessary.

It sounds like you and your points are safe. MS will use the '04 points for the '05 reservation made at the 11 month window. Since she said that you just have a few remaining '04 points to bank that would imply that she already allocated the other '04 points for your '05 reservation. If you cancel your reservation those points now stay in the '05 use year and can not be brought back to '04. The original '05 points can still be borrowed back to the '04 year if you want to make things really confusing!
