AGHHH!!!!!!!

I have been on ebay searching for a dress for so long (Ariel), I found one last week, and it came today. It looks beautiful, and the waist is lined per the description on ebay. The problem is the top/ chest area. There is a see through material and where it is stitched together along the sleeves and chest is very itchy. The only way my daughter will wear it is with a shirt underneath it! Not exactly the look I wanted!:sad2: Is there anything I can do, has anyone had a similiar situation? Please, any advice?:confused3

DD4 had an itchy Snow White dress for our trip a t-shirt underneath worked fine. But if you're worried about it showing through maybe you could try one of those skin toned body suits like for dance recitals.

My daughter had a dress on the other day that had an itchy seam by the zipper. I covered it with a strip of scotch tape. Maybe that would work - and it is see-through too!

My DD had a sleeping beauty dress for the pirate and princess party last march and she said it itched. It was the kind that was off the shoulder so I put a tank under it and cut the shoulders of the tank and pined it to the dress. it seemed to work good. I agree with the other comment about using a flesh colored shirt or if it is just the chest that is bothering her, maybe one of those little girls training bras that have the matching undies????? That may take care of the problem!!!

It's the cup area that's itchy? You could easily hand stitch a lining onto that section, maybe lycra so it won't fray on the edges. Or even try fabric glue if the material isn't too absorbant.

I had the same problem with dd's costume last august. we ended up settling for her wearing her tank top under it. because it wasn't an off the shoulder outfit it worked well and no one knew the tank was there. I like the OP's suggestion to sew a tank into the top of the dress without the straps. might work well...

My dd was just in a musical in June and she had several costume changes but is modest and didnt want to change in front of other girls. So at walmart in the ladies dept. we found a nude colored top, it has straps but they can be removed. What i like was it had no seams it was literally just a flesh colored tube with no cups so if fit her 9 yr old body. She wore it with the straps and you couldnt really see them, she said it wasn't hot or itchy. It really worked perfectly and I think it only cost $11.

I would let her wear a t shirt or tank top under - kohls has lots of different colors on sale. You could also try the fabric stores for some iron on hem tape to put over the itchy part.

I have ordered my DD dresses from www.mydressuptrunk.com and we have been very happy with them. This may do you no good at this point for the costume you already have, unless you want to order another from this site, but I thought I would give you the link for future costumes. They are very soft and not itchy at all. We have Cinderella, Belle Christmas and Rapunzel. I saw they have a Little Mermaid for $19.99. They are great quality and my DD thinks they are the softest ever. Especially after having some of the itchy Disney ones.

You might be able to take some fusible interfacing and iron it on to the itchy parts. And I'll give another shout-out for My Dress Up Trunk - I know it's too late for this one, but they have the best dresses, and they're not itchy at all!

this is always a problem with my daughters. I have sewn in some lining that was the same color or my daughter wore a bathing suit underneath. There was never a complaint from them after. When we are in Disney the dress doesn't stay on long anyway because its way too hot to wear for long periods of time.

My DD says her Disney Dresses are itchy as well. We normally solve the problem with a t-shirt underneath. It's put my off buying any more Disney brand dresses. I think that I'll take a look at that other site for a soft, itch-free alternative.

We LOVE mydressuptrunk.com. My daughter has eczema and just can't wear the Disney brand dresses. These dresses are not at all itchy and very soft.
