Help! Issues linking DVC Membership to My Disney Experience

I'm having a hard time with the new requirement to use a digital DVC Membership card. I'd really appreciate some advise!

1. I already had a My Disney Experience Account. When I pulled up my profile, I found that a DVC ID # was attached to my MDE account. Fine.
But where did that ID # come from? Is it a new number Disney has just assigned? Most importantly, does that ID # reflect that we have been long-time members and grandfathered into older benefits?
Also, we have 2 different UY's. Does that one number recognize both UY's or do I have to add one on? Does that even matter?

2. My husband did not have a My Disney Experience Account, so I just set one up. But now what? How do I link his DVC Membership (which is, of course, mine too) into his MDE account? Do I have to create the link or will it happen automatically?

Thanks for anyone who can help me figure this out!
 
Did your husband use the same email address for MDX that he uses for DVCMember.com? If so, everything should link automatically.

He never set up his own DVCMember.com account. He didn't need to - I'm the one who does all the planning, which he hates to do. So the automatic link can't happen.

I can't see the point in setting up a new DVCMember account with a different user name and password, just to get it to link with MDE, when Disney's whole intention is to use one user name and password for everything. Is that the only way to get their system to work??

I'm still wondering about my first question too. Where did my DVC ID # come from? Do I need 2 since we have 2 use years? Will my husband's ID # be the same as mine? Does that number reflect how long we've been members?

Any help greatly appreciated!
 
What you are seeing under Memberships & Passes on your MDE Profile is your DVC Club ID. This ID is not new and everyone has one (even associate members). The only time a member ever really needs it, is to setup online access to the member website. Typically the first part of the Club ID will be the same for everyone on the membership and the second part will be unique (.1, .2, etc.) by person. Not sure what they do for members with multiple memberships.

For members with multiple memberships, the initial ID which was used for setting up online account doesn’t change. With the online account set up with the initial ID, each additional membership/UY will just show up on the account. For example, we have 6 UYs. From a single log in account, I see all 6 UYs and can book using any of those UYs. In your case, in your current DVC account, you should be able to access both UYs.

ETA: MDE doesn’t care how many UYs we have, as long as it sees we are DVC members.
 
I feel your pain. I am in charge of all the DVC stuff and had to set up an account for him too. You need to talk to ms to get your dh a DVC account and will need the activation code to do so. Be prepared for a long wait. I did read that it might be possible to get the code through the chat feature which could save a lot of time.
