I need your opinions!
We are traveling to the World May 6th -11th. Right now I have a stay booked at POP with the upgraded tickets (came from a pin code in the mail, not the general public code) Well, the CM on the phone said that they could book the package with the upgraded tickets or give us what amounts to 20% off the rooms. What should I do? This would make value rooms $79/night and moderates $154 (CBR or CSR Water View, only thing available).

We stayed at POR last time and truly loved the property, but didn't really have time to enjoy it. I have heard lots of bad things about POP and the values being noisy. I just want this vacation to be romantic as possible! Should we spend the extra for the mod even though its not the ones we would prefer? Or stick with a value and save the money?

I will probably switch to the 20% off code since it will save us more money in the long run. We can buy tickets from UT and come out ahead. But is it worth it for the moderate resort??

TIA!

How much time do you plan spending at the resort? If you are going to be at the parks all day and all night then I say stay with the value. If you are gonna hang around the resort and enjoy it and relax by the pool and things like that then I would go with the Moderate.

We have stayed in the value resorts and we never found them to be to noisy. We like them alot.:)

Well, if you are wanting romantic, Pop does not come to mind. ;)
I say it always depends. If you are not really using the resort or in the room much, a value does just as well.
The more resort time, the more I go for a at least a moderate to a deluxe.

POP is a great value resort. BUT it is NOT romantic by any means. I do love POP but it is alot of young families and kids which works great for us.;)

I stayed at ASM and CBR. I would definately say we saw less people around the actual hotel area, but as for the pool area, there are definately the same amount of people, kids, families everyone hangs out by the pool.

You have to keep in mind the Value Resorts are catering to families, just by doing the huge characters outside of each building.

If you want romantic I would say pay for the Mod.

Thanks for the quick responses!

We are there for the parks and nightlife! I think we are going to stick with the values and use the extra money for fun! (DDP???) We are very much on a budget and having the money for nicer dinners and other things will be much more remembered and treasured than how big was the room and how nice was the decor.

Thanks for the input

Definitely! CSR is a great resort. Check out my CSR website for pics and info.

I have stayed at CSR twice. It is a great resort. I looked at the AS' and POP for the up coming trip I am taking but I seemed to gravitate to the moderate resorts because of my experience at CSR.

I am staying at CBR for the first time in fall because CSR was booked. A moderate resort is worth the money.

BTW, Buzz, great website! I used it for my trip in 2001. Quick question, with the opening of RIX do you think CSR will change to delux? I hope not. CSR is the only mod with a health club and now a night club.

I recommend CSR! Awesome pool/slide for all ages, the transportation is some of the best I've experienced and it doesn't share with another resort and the food options are great!!

CSR is the best, hands down more relaxing than any of the values. If you decide to stay with the value, I would switch to ASMusic, not near as crazy as Pop.

Caribbean Beach is a beautiful resort, in my opinion, and worth the extra money. A lot of people will tell you that you're only going to spend "xx" amount of time in a resort, who cares what it is. I think the resort really makes the vacation, even if you only spend XX amount of time in it.

Since you are only staying 5 days, I say don't upgrade. We spent 1 week at the POP last April/May, and it wasn't a pleasant experience for us. We are 4, 2 adult and 2 kids, and we found the room was VERY cramped for us, and the beds were very hard. It's very doable for a 1-5 night stay, but after the 5th day we wanted to change resorts.
This past December we stayed at POFQ for 1 week, and we loved it! The resort was small and VERY quiet. We loved the decor and the extra "perks" of a mod, such as the fridge and coffee maker in the room. Most of all, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were a little bigger, and to us, all those things made a difference in our trip.
IMHO, I think that POP is a very good resort, and to my boys it means Disney, it broke my heart to hear them asking where Lady and the Tramp were...:)

For us, a dad with two teenage boys, CBR is wonderful! We actually look forward to the time we spend kicking back at the resort in the afternoons when we take breaks from the parks -- we LOVE the parks, but CBR is like getting a vacation in the afternoon each day from the crowds in the parks!:cool1:

I have stayed at Pop, GF and most recently at CSR. I decided that if I don't have the $$ for a deluxe, I will stay at a value in the future. There were 3 of us and I did not feel the room was much bigger that the value rooms. We did not spend much time at the resort, so my opinion is based mostly on the room itself. No doubt the grounds were pretty.

That being said, since I am on a mission to stay at all of the resorts, I will likely book the PO's and CBR at some point.--probably at the end of a trip when I will be spending more time at the resort.

Personally, I did not see the cost/benefit of the moderates. Our room felt no more comfortable over the value we stayed in, adn the service wasn't any better. The place wasnt any quieter at all.

I would stay at the POp or upgrade to a deluxe, which i do think are worth the extra money.
