Help Interpreting Disney Scheduling

I am planning our first family trip in May. I have the fireworks schedule as well as the park hours. However, I am confused in that there are several days/parks which list their hours until 9 PM and the fireworks are listed at 9 PM. How does this work?

It means should you choose you can ride rides and get in line for attractions up to 9 when the lines close.

At 9 they have the fireworks show but then as you leave only a few shops will be open and there will be no further opportunity to enjoy rides/shows.

All parks are open for at least an hour or maybe two before they are really closed. At closing they don't start to clear the park just shutdown the attraction lines..

At Epcot WS closes at 9:00 and then they do Illuminations. At DHS many times there will be a Fantasmic that starts at closing.

Some people even get ADRs that start right before the park "closes".

One other thing you need to know about Epcot closing, they say FW closes at 7:00 but in reality all the big attractions, Soaring, TT, Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo and Mission space are open until 9:00.
