My DD helped with the laundry while I was at work. But it seems someone left a pen in a pocket and now there is ball point ink on some of our best work clothes. Any suggestions on how to remove it? It is pretty bad on some of our good sweaters.

DH did that once. I sprayed the ink spots with non-aerasol hair spray. It took a while of blotting, wiping, spraying, blotting, wiping, etc, but all the ink finally came out and the shirt looks perfect. I'm guessing the alcohol in the hairspray is what did the trick.

Methanol (poisonous , wood alcohol)if you have any access to it. Sometimes Isopropyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol from drugstore).

Any Hair spray will work. Just soak the area with it you will see the ink start to bleed then wash it again. If he dried them you may have to repeat treatment a few times. The hairspray really works I used to have ink all over my uniform jackets and if I sprayed them before washing it would come out.

At least you discovered it before it went in the drier. My DS left a pen in his shorts pocket last summer and it didn't explode until it was in the drier. Never did come out all the way, but after much washing it has faded. We tried Oxy Clean and a bunch of other stuff (not the hairspray though) and it just didn't want to budge. At least it was only his own clothes
